Do I Need Breakers for Each Battery

Well here is a link to a MSD sheet, no fire hazard listed? https://dakotalithium.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/01/LiFePO4-Safety-Data-Sheet-Lithium-Iron-Phosphate-Batteries.pdf Waffle guy, So you found ONE fire hazard?? Wow!! Waffle guy... still acting like a child... Insults again. Nothing...

Do I Need Breakers for Each Battery

Then you can quote me the number of LiFePO4 fires nationwide because I could find zero after searching for an hour? The NEC is written by and for fire prevention (and electrical safety) IF LFP were prone to fires and needed fusing for each it Will be in the Code. Its Not, if you are a true...

Do I Need Breakers for Each Battery

Well I can find Nothing in the current 2020 NEC about fusing individual batteries. Regardless of being posted on Here or not. If its not in this edition of the Code then its not required nor needed. IF it was a common danger then the Code would have it listed. Please list the fires that have...

Do I Need Breakers for Each Battery

Well I am 79 years old and been in electrical since 1962 first licensed in 1970 and retired as a Master specializing in controls in 2007 after teaching for 12 years. Not seen references to what your talking about here? And Who are you besides being a Waffle maker?

Do I Need Breakers for Each Battery

More likely that you need an actual fuse for each battery. if you don't have a fuse for each battery, you run the risk of one battery feeding into another at high current, e.g., battery 1 has a cell failure, and it's voltage drops. The parallel battery 2 will dump current into it. What are the...

Do I Need Breakers for Each Battery

Why would you fuse each battery? My string is fused before the inverter and on the line feeding from the charge controller.

    (6) 100 watt panels with 40a MPPT charge controller in 3S2P?

Expect to pay $600 - $1500 plus for a good low freq 3000 watt inverter. The 12 volt supply voltage is a draw back on larger inverters 3000 watts would be about 250 amps not including all the losses.

    (6) 100 watt panels with 40a MPPT charge controller in 3S2P?

On 12 volts is way over kill, I only have a low freq 2000 watt on mine and going to a 3000 watt would really be pushing the limits on ampere draw from the batteries. I only have 3 100 aH LFP batteries and perhaps adding a 4th but not now. If you never plan on using more than 2000-3000 watts...

New Help Finding an Isolation Transformer

I need to look for one like that and you got a good deal. There is really no reason why I can not feed 120 volts into it and get out 240 volts out for my Mitsubishi mini split Heat Pump.

    (6) 100 watt panels with 40a MPPT charge controller in 3S2P?

I also have the same panels.... 3S2P works fine on the 40 amp MPPT controller. I have 3 100 aH batteries on a low freq 2000 watt Invertor.

UPS Freight is delivering my 55 pound 3KVA unit today. Not by truck Freight I hope but via regular UPS, correct? The H and X terminals marking are SOP for those transformers.

Battery does not reach float Voltage after upgrade to MPPT and Lithium.

I don't understand how a 300 watt AC unit on 120 volts is going to draw 30 amps if it does the system is not large enough. With that load on, (23-24 amps, 12.8 vdc) even in the daytime with 5 or 6 hours of good charging amps its not enough to power that load and charge the LiFePO4 battery to...

Home Insurance & Non UL Approved Equipment

You are 100% correct, Amazon lets venders put anything up for sale. However I understand there is a China UL stamp? I know zero about how it works or not. But US UL listed is what counts and just putting it on a device does not make it so. Insurance companies want to weasel out of paying if...

Correct. I had to deal with Farm B______ Ins Company on a roof damage claim from hail. I only got paid 1/2 up front and could not get the rest of the money until I Proved to them I had the work done. Meaning I had to pay the roofing Co. up front. Then within 60 days I got notice of a rate...

Home Insurance & Non UL Approved Equipment

My son had a friend that built computers, non UL approved power supply which is common place. But the Ins company held up payment on the house fire claim for months, said it was the power supply. Have you been around After a fire and dealt with a claims agent? I would guess not. BTW I have...

Home Insurance & Non UL Approved Equipment

Your agent does not know anything, he should call a company underwriter or claims agent. If its not UL and caused the fire they more than likely will not pay.

Entire structure of small ground mount array needs to be UL listed? WTF?

The NEC group is NOT a government agency it is a private non-profit that is un-regulated and makes up its own rules as it goes. Until the past 20 years or so it served a useful function, now its influenced by a lot of industry partners who put profit ahead of common sense.

Entire structure of small ground mount array needs to be UL listed? WTF?

The NEC is getting way out of line. No common sense or concern for costs, just dream it up. When I first tested back in the very Early 1970's the Code book made a lot of sense and it was only perhaps a inch thick. Now nobody can really tell you what a lot of sections are all about... and the...

Is Renogy Going Out Of Business?

You seem to have issues with everything, not just Renogy. I have ordered a couple thousand dollars from Renogy either on Amazon, eBay or direct Zero problems. My only issues with them is the price varies from one source to the next and you need to shop with that in mind.

Renogy 60amp controller low charging voltage

Do you have a BMS on your batteries? My Renogy LiFePO4's have built in BMS with Bluetooth as well as my Renogy charge controller. With the Renogy phone App I can read the batteries and the controller rates, I never depend on the read out on the controller for any details. I did not think the...

Gut check - am I crazy?

My gut feeling is solar is going to become a lot more expensive. Our pissing war and maybe real war with China is going to drive up the cost of everything. Perhaps that is for the better as we bring a lot of manufacturing back here? Not all for sure as some is shifting to Vietnam and other...

    Renogy Rover Lithium settings

My garage/shop is set up, most of it anyway on my 600 watt Renogy solar system with the 40 amp Rover and set at the default for the LiFePO4 batteries which have a built in BMS. I see it in "float" a lot since I sometimes do not use my shop. The BMS keeps the batteries from overcharging. This...
