Help with calculating what I need to charge an EV motorcycle

Yeah, what those guys said! Basically PV watts will tell you that you get x amount of avg. sunlight per day in your area. Let’s pretend you get 5 hours of sunlight per day (highly unlikely but it’s a nice even number ;) Then it’ll ask you how much kw you want to produce. Sounds like you want...

    Ecoflow DPU system

Your math seems to check out. If you’re really concerned about fires it’s the wiring that you need to oversize and stay with 10 panels on your high voltage string and you should be set. You need to do a precise or nearly precise calculation of the length from your solar panels to your DPU...

New system lasting less than an hour.

This could have damaged your batteries. Many solar charge controllers SCC are preset to lead acid batteries which is probably why it worked well for those when you had them. Best case scenario is your scc tried to bulk charge and equalize your LiFePo4 batteries and caused them to shut themselves...

    Help me

K490 is absolutely right, you definitely should take the time to figure this all out properly. That being said I’m fairly certain that you could get through the night with a system like this :) and if it turns out that you can’t make it through the night with 30kwh of storage just add more...

beginner camper battery help ? :)

Yes, as long as the BMS supports it. Might need to look into a kit to make it easier to move back and forth. @BradCagle did a video on this kit that might work for your application

    Off Grid Andy

You’re living the dream Andy! I hear you want to move to 48v but have you thought of going higher? Those ev batteries can make a much more efficient high voltage pack and that’s may be where the industry is headed. Check what this guy did with his project!

Final advise for turning on eg4 18kpv

Dumb settings are subjective. As long as you have the batteries matched to the right setting: lithium, Sel or user you should be good. If you want a better answer you might need to add more specific information about what loads you’re going to run, what strings you’ll be using in the mppt and...

    Seeking Advice for PV Setup

Glad to hear that you’re continuing your build. If you got the Gel batteries that sohighsolar sells then just remember to set your charging parameters for that specific battery type. If you go with lithium ion batteries you’ll probably need to set the parameters manually and remember that...

Latest, good All-In-One - mobile, EG4, SunGold, Growatt, Chins - single phase, 3kw

Everybody’s “sweet spot” is different lol. There are so many options these days. It really comes down to warranties and whether or not they’ll be honored, which is why I generally agree with the statement above about PowMr as long as I can find it on Amazon and get protection on it so I can...

Any interest in something like this?

I’m wondering if your device would be just the thing to power a sand battery off of… On a slight tangent, I just spent $80 on a 48v DC to 12v DC converter advertised as 720 watts of output but it only has 360 watts of output before the voltage sags to a voltage too low for my equipment (11v)...

    Wiring panels in parallel

What panels are you using? Are you using a solar charge controller (SCC) or an all in one unit with a SCC? The more information you can give us the better we can help, but as stated above, polarity should not reverse when putting panels in parallel.

    Seeking Advice for PV Setup

I went to Sohigh’s website and saw a very similar solar kit to what you’re working with. Have you tried talking to them about the “minimum operating voltage: 360v?” They seem to be selling a kit with 12 panels of instead of 14 so I looked at their 10 kw kit and I see that they recommend putting...

Trying to understand some basic numbers

No, that’s how much it pulls max, but refrigerators don’t always run at max unless you leave the door open. Unfortunately, refrigerators have become twice as efficient in the last 18 years so it’s your call. Replace the fridge or get more batteries and a bigger inverter. A lot of this depends on...

Energy-conscious/efficient off-grid tiny home setup help

Exactly! Rear label is key! Volts, amps and watts! Technically, you wouldn’t be “combining” panels. They would be in two different arrays/groups.

Trying to understand some basic numbers

Also, after watching this video to see if it would help you it seems as if your fridge is terribly inefficient compared to the one in This video which runs 3 amps at 115v. Or 300+ watts, but when he put it on a kill-a-watt meter it averaged out to 84 watts per hour.
  19. B

Trying to understand some basic numbers

These numbers are off. 747 watts must be the start up wattage. As stated earlier by someone else, refrigerators have a different running wattage after they reach the desired temp. Unless you plan to leave the refrigerator open for an hour while cooking, like my wife ? you’ll rarely shell out 747...

Trying to understand some basic numbers

Many panels are rated to withstand hail, each panel is different. “Solar panels can take a beating and keep going. The tempered glass on the surface is typically strong enough that most hailstorms will not damage your panels.”...

Trying to understand some basic numbers

Glass is generally more efficient and with companies like Santan Solar they’re cheap and easily replaced.

Pick up stuff from santan today 115°f and nasty in the oven(Phoenix)

240v split phase, battery less and cheap don’t really go together buddy. If you want to make everything work with what you’ve got and on the cheap then just start stringing some cheap 12v lead acid batteries with some jumper cables and only run those A/Cs during the day.
  23. B

Trying to understand some basic numbers

Yeah what he said, but since you only have 100 watt panels you’re initially correct that you’ll have the potential to harvest 2.5 kW of energy per day assuming you get 5 hours of insolation. These numbers have less to do with your inverter and more to do with your charge controller (CC). If you...

Energy-conscious/efficient off-grid tiny home setup help

Looking at all of the appliances you listed and the tools you want to be able to use, you will need a large system (miter saws and CNCs consume a lot of power…) once you do an energy audit then you can find an inverter to fit your power needs, batteries and a charge controller (CC) Combining the...

Solar on van and portable solar question

Depending on which EPEver you have you should be able to create a user charging profile to match the Kisae charge controller. The. You won’t need to buy extra parts and as 0truck0 said, redundancy isn’t a bad idea.

Solar on van and portable solar question

You could make a combiner box with circuit breakers and just switch off the breaker for the panels you don’t want to use. Something like what this guy makes at 16minutes on this video should work.

Almost 2 months later and it hasn’t blown up lol ? Caution ⚠️ if you have OCD do not scrutinize my temporary set up too closely. Suffice it to say that my 360 watt 48v to 12v Dc-Dc converter only supplies around 100 watts continuously. Any amount over that creates way too much voltage drop and...

Buck Converter to Power Crypto Mining?

That’s awesome! I saw you had a post about putting air conditioning to keep your batteries and inverter cool in the summer, what do you use to keep the miners cool? 64 watts could be another 1660 super for me lol, but when you’re running 3060’s that’s pretty negligible. As you said you’re not...
