12v relay help for powering fan directly off panel and/or battery depending on incoming pv.

Exactly....plus keep the odors from piling up. The fan is being installed inside a pipe that is plumbed right onto the pit. So it pulls fresh air through the sitting area and vents it outside so no pit odors waft up through the seat etc. 12v Noctua ip67 rated large pc fan. Works great.

12v relay help for powering fan directly off panel and/or battery depending on incoming pv.

Very true. I thought there would be a neat way to hook this up. Still going to try to figure something out but in reality a bigger battery or more PV is the simpler route.

12v relay help for powering fan directly off panel and/or battery depending on incoming pv.

I could do that and program it to a higher low voltage cutoff. But I'd still want a cutoff for the lights just in case. Was hoping I could setup some sort of relay/diode setup to power the fan for both scenarios.

12v relay help for powering fan directly off panel and/or battery depending on incoming pv.

It does have a load output. The challenge is that my battery might drain enough to disconnect my lights if I leave the fan running 24/7 and not switched at night. So I would like to be able to run the fan off PV during the day and then have it be on a switch when the PV isn't providing enough...

12v relay help for powering fan directly off panel and/or battery depending on incoming pv.

Yes I have a 75/10 victron in the current system. But I'd like to run the fan off pv during the day and be able to use an off/on switch when I don't have pv and pull from the battery. The battery isn't big enough to run the fan all night and I don't have room for putting a big battery on the...

12v relay help for powering fan directly off panel and/or battery depending on incoming pv.

I have a panel and battery supplying 12v power to my outhouse. I've installed a 12v fan I'd like to run continuously in the outhouse using a dc=dc converter right off the panel when the sun is out. I'd also like the option of running this fan off the battery via switch when the panel isn't...

Anyone using a “plastic” shed for solar? Aka Rubbermaid, suncast, etc?

A lot of places sell pre made 8x8 or 10x10 wood sheds that are tin or shingled roof. I'd trust one of those over the plastic sheds for durability, wind resistance and water tightness. You could always add vents and/or power small fans to ventilate in either setup.

How do Magnum, Victron and Samlex compare for quality and warranty/support?

Ok good to know. I don't mind doing the troubleshooting and tech support as long as I can end up getting help or replacement at the end of the day.

How do Magnum, Victron and Samlex compare for quality and warranty/support?

Looking at these brands for an inverter for a small 24v or 48v system. How do these brands compare for quality and warranty/customer service if you have issues? Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

    Crimping tool recommendations for MC4

Good Morning, I haven't been able to come to a conclusion on what MC4 crimper to buyand haven't found much using the search function on the forum on this. Would anyone have recommendations on what is working for them when crimping MC4? Thank you

Source to buy quality wire ferrules?

Thank you for pointing to the Victron thread on this. Makes sense if they are specifically designed to handle stranded to consider not using those ferrules.

Source to buy quality wire ferrules?

Good Day, I'm looking to purchase a few sizes of ferrules for wiring into my Victron SCC's. Would anyone have recommendations on where to buy good quality ones? And would you have any recommendations on which crimper to purchase? Thank you

Where to buy quality wire and lugs?

@Q-Dog @jfpetesn @TommyinMiami - appreciate the feedback around the Ancor products. Is there a preferred site to get these from?

Where to buy quality wire and lugs?

Really appreciate the replies folks! Now if using indoors - is there any need to used tinned wire? Or just go for tinned lugs?

Where to buy quality wire and lugs?

Good Morning. I'm starting to plan my solar build and was wondering where most folks are getting quality wire (both mc4 anad inverter/battery) along with good quality lugs. Please let me know. Thank you

Does Victron make a 48v Multiplus that is UL/CSA approved?

I emailed Victron a while back and they are going through the certification process starting with the 48V Multiplus II -3Kva model. The rep mentioned they hope to have it to market early 2023. I'm likely holding out until that gets released.

Grounding/Bonding rooftop panels and Inverter to AC panel?

Thanks for the explanation! On my setup the neutral is bonded to the ground inside my service panel inside the cabin. So it's ok to have multiple locations in the setup going to earth ground (such as panels, inverter and electrical panel)? But only 1 spot for neutral-ground bond?

Grounding/Bonding rooftop panels and Inverter to AC panel?

Good Morning, Offgrid cabin here. Currently running a small generator into my AC panel but plan to install solar soon. So the generator would then connect to the inverter and supplement the batteries when needed or when needing more power. I'm planning on mounting a few rooftop panels for my...

    Why Victron, why?

Depending on the outcome of the certification, hardware sometimes need modification. So an existing unit might not meet the cert and a slightly different model gets released as certified. Believe the MP II 24v has a specific UL version for example.

    Why Victron, why?

I emailed them the other day regarding one of their inverter/chargers. It sounds like they are working towards certifying a few more which is great. Might want to email them on the specific models you're after to see if they can give an eta.

ESA also does solar permits now. Give them a shout they will explain the process and then you can talk to an inspector about details.

Isolated or non-isolated DC converter for running a solar fan?

Thanks. I'm still not sure on which one is better when not using a battery in the mix. I hear you on the load terminals....would be nice if the 75/10's could run w/o a battery!

Isolated or non-isolated DC converter for running a solar fan?

Good Day, I'm looking to get a Victron DC-DC converter to run a 12v fan off of my ~22v panel directly (no battery). Would I be best to get an isolated converter for this purpose? Or would a non isolated one suffice? Trying to understand the pros/cons of each. Thank you

    Powerful 12v DC pumps

I ended up with a Remco rebel 55 12v pump. It's been working pretty good alongside a pressure tank from Menards. It's pulling up about 150ft horizontal and 12ft vertical which is impressive. Need to put it closer to the water as I'm not getting great psi out of it due to the distance / lift.

12v DC options for shower exhaust fan, timer and light?

Thanks. I can't seem to find any other than UK sites though? Ironically I was looking at the Noctua site this morning! Big fan of their products and was curious if anyone was running them. Those would work for me and I could just mount them to a vent on the wall rather than ducting etc...

12v DC options for shower exhaust fan, timer and light?

I have a small building that is used for a shower and pump house. It also houses my DC water pump and small 80w 12vsolar setup. Looking to install a shower exhaust fan and light for the room. Timer would be nice for the fan. What good options are there for DC powered fans that can handle...

Can I use A/C wiring for the PV to SCC section? (80w)

Thanks. I have lots of it so I figured I'd use that in the short term and having such a low wattage for panels.

Can I use A/C wiring for the PV to SCC section? (80w)

I need to setup a small 80w system to run my DC pump for a few months. Could I use 12/2 AC outdoor wire for the panel to SCC connections? Since it's a very small setup was hoping to use that until I get my large system in place and get DC wiring. Thanks

Class T and MEGA fuse/holder brand recommendations...

48V is out since the inverter I wanted isn't UL. Exactly it came recommended as the Lynx distributor only uses MEGA and it'd be good to have a T fuse between that and the battery
