    I have an older 30+ years Minolta Dimage digital camera and on candlelight setting with an infrared filter it works great, just don't take pictures of people with that setting. 1.1MM lens for 11" close up work and I used it a lot on motor bearings

    I may take one of my 5# co2 units and set it up on an automatic sprinkler head, will also double 5/8" drywall the electrical room and put in a fire door that seals plus an alarm system. We are in the middle of nowhere and don't want to burn down the mountain.

    Many thanks to Signature Solar for jumping on this and replacing the defective EG4 3000 EHV 48! Great company to deal with! And yes, I am adding more breakers and switches for safety, lowering the voltage by putting more panels in parallel and adding a second Inverter/controller

    Tinned, not silver soldered, they came pre-cut and tinned. I have rolls of silver solder, I will cut and silver solder in the future unless silver solder would be too rigid and keep the wire from flattening in the connectors.

    Yes, for it to be over 400 volts that would indicate a no load voltage so the system had failed at least an hour earlier as it had quit charging at 95%.

    The terminal is a square box with a flat plate that tightens with the set screw crushing the wire. Waiting to hear back from Supplier.

    The pop I heard from 20 plus feet away and smoke was coming out of bottom of unit, I shut off power switch and went for fire extinguisher and wires were burning outside the box when I got back, maybe a minute or less. Shut off solar input and batteries next. So I am thinking failure caused wires...

    Photo's of the wire ends, you can see they got hot but were the right length in the connection, no insulation in joint, burning started just below, cables may have been hot full length but the CO2 could have changed that or when the unit failed it heated rapidly. Rebuilding I will be adding more...

    Photos of the wires and ends, I think they overheated and the reason the rest of the cable was cool was due to the CO2.

    I like your swag, bad connection is out, I carefully checked and both wires were tight and no insulation under the set screw. Had to use my impact driver to remove them and the ends are bright, not burned and no sign of arcing. The fire seemed to be outside the box right where the wires went...

    The cable lower down was not hot, only the burning area. The section inside that was smoked was at the opposite corner. Fans were blowing smoke down and out the bottom near the wires, I wondered if it was the plastic sleeve that the wires went through that was on fire and burning the wire...

    Looks like it needs a 100 amp fuse added to the system as the wire size doesn't look like it can go any bigger into the inverter. Still doesn't solve why it shorted.

    That is where my thinking is going and the only place the wires were close was going into the inverter. I will separate the wires and add a breaker then run the wires to the rack in conduit.

    Gauge is #4, I think I will add an additional breaker to set. None of the battery breakers tripped and the cable away from the fire was not hot.

    The cables that came with the batteries run to the bus bar on the rack and are a lot smaller, the cables that came with the Inverter/charger are heavier and fit the connectors, I don't think larger cables would fit. I looked to see if larger would work. I just checked the gauge, the cables were #4.

    PV uses 8 gauge wire, THHN 600 volt rated. (did not catch fire) The battery cables that came with the EG4 were the ones that caught fire. Not sure what they are rated.     Each battery has a fuse, 100 amp. The battery cables were not shorting out or at least not fused together but the insulation was on fire.
