Epever upower Hi series remote access (full version!)

For anyone having problems getting HA to report data from The inverter.. back in September they updated home assistant core and Made a change to Modbus. To fix the problem, simply add a # in front of any line that starts with 'Count'. (Within configuration.yaml) This should fix it and all...

Just bought 16 Eve LF280K A grade; update on degradation after 15 months

Thanks very much for the reply ?.. Sounds like you have been treating them pretty good,, be interesting to know if you tested them again for example tomorrow to see if you got the same result or not!... Also, maybe in one more years time, testing them exactly how you have just done, would...

Just bought 16 Eve LF280K A grade; update on degradation after 15 months

Can I ask, did you test them in this exact way a year ago when you first got them? And is the temperature different at all this time? Also, how have they been treated - what kinda voltages have you been draining them down to and charging them to regularly? Pretty much exactly a year since I...

No lol, not that clever.. But yes, that does seem to happen!

First build 3kw panels 3kw inv 14.4kw storage

Hi seagal, thanks very much ?, yes that shed does definitely act as a faraday cage lol. Think i spent as much time getting all the software to work as it did build the thing ?

Any idea what the problem is?

First build 3kw panels 3kw inv 14.4kw storage

Well heres an update now its all finished. Both battery banks complete: ??Bus bars complete (two terminals still needing to be crimped properly). ?? Doubled up cables all round (70mm) as shown in the breaker/isolator box. Above the multi socket is a box with the solid state relay...

First build 3kw panels 3kw inv 14.4kw storage

Thank you ? im near Diss, north suffolk.. I remember clacton from when i was very young, my mothers parents lived there.. I have vague memories of a small roller-coaster on a pier, that my parents didnt let me go on! I got the panels from a chap on ebay just south of norwich, i think he...

2 runaway cells on 2 banks

Thanks again for the detailed reply.. Because of the amount of time it all takes, and having to keep an eye on things, i really need to do all that when im off work for a week. We are due a full day of sun tomorrow, but being at work all day is not ideal, i can access it all remotely, but the...

2 runaway cells on 2 banks

Ok thanks, i have a 10amp power supply that i used to top balance originally, and the hybrid inverter (epever) has a charger that can charge the banks, which is what i use in winter,, it charges at max 80amps from grid or max 100a from solar, if thats what you mean?

2 runaway cells on 2 banks

Im still kinda in the middle of it all waiting for enough sun to charge the cells to a high enough soc to get them balanced better than they are now, using the resistor method.. Had poor weather all week. The problem i have had i think is simply never charging them to a high soc in the 6...

2 runaway cells on 2 banks

Yes sorry, im easily confused lol. Had the inverter set to push in too much power for the balancers to cope as one of the cells on each bank was spiking alot sooner than the rest. But yes, it was set to 3.4v before i started messing with things without thinking clearly what i was doing, hence...
  13. Ucatchmydrift

2 runaway cells on 2 banks

I changed to 3.35v just temporarily as a test as the cells are spiking long before reaching 3.4v meaning the balancer would never even kick in in the first place..

2 runaway cells on 2 banks

One other annoying thing that seems to have developed lately is one bank drains faster than the other, if the shunts are to be believed. Was at 10 percent difference the other week before getting them charged to a high soc. Plus, they got to 100% according to the shunts, but still had plenty...

2 runaway cells on 2 banks

Yep. Pulling just background house load today shows them back how they normally are, and is more clear the difference between cell 1 on each bank, and what i ment by maybe draining a bit too much.. But like you say, ill wait to see at a higher soc...

2 runaway cells on 2 banks

Yes i see what you mean by getting the balancer to balance below a certain voltage, not above, for the bottom balance.. The resistors are rated up to 375 deg Celsius, so pretty sure theyll be ok! I left the resistors on from about 2pm until about 10am the next day, looking at the voltages on...

2 runaway cells on 2 banks

Thanks again ? My situation is: in the winter i have a smart plug wired up to control grid supply to a hybrid inverter which will charge the batteries via cheap electricity from 12:00- 07:00am. (i just look at the soc before bed and set the smart plug app to come on for a couple of hours for...

2 runaway cells on 2 banks

Yes, same over here, id get a fair bit more from selling it back to the grid, but, i dont have a grid tie inverter, so just use up the spare power with the mining rig instead.

2 runaway cells on 2 banks

Sorry for the delayed reply, had some family issues to deal with the last few days. But,, thanks for taking the time to write such an in depth reply.. I think from what you have said that i will be able to get them back in balance, or close as i can. I expect ill be reading your posts a few...

2 runaway cells on 2 banks

Thats good to know thank you ?. Typically the weather looks dull for the next week, so may have to wait a while untill it brightens up. (cant be using grid power to charge them! ?)

2 runaway cells on 2 banks

Its only on on sunny days, and would take forever to pay for its self these days as its a gpu miner (not asic bitcoin) and now etherium is proof of stake, and not proof of work now, profit is about £0.30- £0.40 a day, vs £2-£9 a day a year ago or so. Obviously if the price of crypto goes up in...

2 runaway cells on 2 banks

Thanks for the detailed explanation! I had to read that a few times lol. That is definitely a lot of hastle, and dont really want to be doing that often, or ever tbh. So yes, if a 5a balancer is enough to deal with it, i may well invest in a couple of them. Ill see how much current is needed...

    2 cells lagging behind

Im very confident that both my jk bmses are not faulty, i did look at the esp route using sysi's code, but used the batmon add on instead as it looked more simple. (i may change this now though! - i have an esp32 at home to try) It works fine without having the 'power cycle' setting enabled for...

    2 cells lagging behind

Hi, i think mine is a different situation, its not in a boot loop, just think the HA software add on could have been rebooting it, or just rebooting the bluetooth many times a day, not sure yet. But i have the software turned off now, so not doing it anymore, was just contemplating things when...

2 runaway cells on 2 banks

And in the summer now, on sunny days i would switch on my sons crypto mining rig to use any extra power, resulting in the banks getting to around 80-90% soc each day. Only just tried reaching 100% soc the other day to test them ?
  26. Ucatchmydrift

2 runaway cells on 2 banks

The jk bmses do have a 2amp balancer on board, which i did have set to balance above 3.4v, (now set to 3.35v). Problem is, that im not sure that in the 6 months ive been using the banks, they have ever been charged to 3.4v or above, as its been winter, and when charging from the grid at night...

2 runaway cells on 2 banks

Will do.. I ordered 2x 5 ohm 100w resistors earlier.. I thought it may take a while as like you say, at 3.3v, the rest could be 10-20% lower capacity?! Currently both banks are at about 80% soc, and the cell difference is 0.000v on the top bank and 0.001v on the bottom with the house...

2 runaway cells on 2 banks

I havent tried moving the cells yet, they are compressed and was hoping not to have to do that, although im of the understanding that they only actually need to be compressed for the first few charge cycles to force out the detrimental 'bubbles' from within the battery chemistry. I may try...
  29. Ucatchmydrift

2 runaway cells on 2 banks

Presumably, i could test that by draining off some of the power from the two cells when at a high state of charge with a resistor, then once balanced, check which cells drain first and by how much?

2 runaway cells on 2 banks

Thank you.. Fair point about the black wire, i have straightened it out now ?.. The other bank has no kink in the wire, and the type of ring term is the same type on both banks. I could add another bus bar at the end and attach the neg wire using the same size ring terminal as the other...

    2 cells lagging behind

Hi, for how long did your bms stay switched off for when switching on and off? Just half a second, or for longer periods of time? As ive got one cell each on two banks unbalanced. The software add on for the bmses in home assistant has a software button to power cycle them (not actually...

2 runaway cells on 2 banks

Thanks... I havent checked the cell voltages recently with a meter no, id assume the bmses are accurate, but ill give them a test just to make sure.. Ive checked all connections on both banks the other day, but i didnt go as far as removing any cell busbars to check for corrosion as everything...
