Using a gen 2 Toyota Prius as a generator

Nobody else is going to question a 10,000w inverter running off 12v? That's over 800 amps. I'd suggest going with a 48v system if you need that kind of power!

Will this panel wiring work/be safe?

The voc of three of your panels in series might be right on the edge of exceeding the 150v spec. Just something to be careful of especially as we get into colder weather.

How to restore my lead acid batteries - Does Equalization work ?

Have you checked the resting voltage of each battery individually to see how close they are to each other? It's possible they are out of balance, if so break the bank down and fully charge each one individually before putting back in series.

Amazon 300 Watt Chinese no name flexible so solar panels.

Do you have a link to the panels, or the dimensions? Then we can use a little math and see if they are legit. There were some "300w" flexible panels on Amazon not too long ago, and after checking the numbers they were, at best, 150w panels. You can also do a simple ohm's law calculation with...

how to charge diy batteries in series, when in 1 pack

If you are putting four cells in series you would need to reverse two cells. If four 18650s are lined up next to each other, and the first has positive up, then the whole sequence for the top of the cells would be pos-neg-pos-neg. There is no polarity issues with charging cells in series. The...

    Inspection Expectations

If they stop being reasonable you could hide all your gear and hook your panels up to a portable power station. Tell them you gave up on the other system and went with something easier. Once they are satisfied go back to your main system and sell the power station. Assuming you are positive...

24V- 12V in series VS 24V in parallel?

Two 12v in series might give you some more flexibility depending on the circumstance, or be easier to source locally. That's all I can think of ?

Use BMS (13S) en serial to Increase voltage up to 240V DC

Even if the bms could handle the voltage the diagram in the op shows a shorted bank, as it's effectively connected in parallel and series at the same time, or am I reading it wrong?

24V- 12V in series VS 24V in parallel?

Two 24v in parallel will avoid the potential issues of two series connected batteries getting out of balance. It also has more redundancy, if something happens to one battery (failure or bms cutoff) you still have the other keeping the system going. With two in series everything goes down if...

Cerrnss Rack Battery 48V/200Ah for $660?? Is that possible?

Maybe the Chinese battery manufacturers know something we don't?

Safely using MCB (mini circuit breakers) for PV & Bi-Directional Battery Protection

Wish I could help! Im not sure of how to test for polarization, the magnet test would make sense but I don't know if it's conclusive. The presence of "+" and "-" on supposedly non polarized breakers is confusing as you noted. I would only trust what the manufacture says, and from a manufacture...

PV Connection before or after master cut off switch

Assuming I understand the description correctly having no charge/discharge of the battery is the point of the switch, to isolate the battery from the rest of the system when switched off. If you only have a means of disconnect between the pv and controller that will stop power coming in from...

    cheap Mppt any good ?

So you think it's just for best performance not a hard voc limit like with most controllers? I was under the impression voc limits are tied to voltage limit of the various components in the circuit, which would be the same regardless of what battery voltage is being used, hence the confusion...

    cheap Mppt any good ?

I saw the specs you are referring to but I am unable to find any explanation. I've never seen any other charge controller with different VOC limits depending on battery voltage. Trying to figure out if their specs are wrong or if there is something unique/strange about this specific controller.

    cheap Mppt any good ?

That seems strange. Why would the input limit be different for different battery voltage? If the components can handle 105v with a 24v system why can't they handle 105v with a 12v?

High current alternator charging for 24v/48v?

Yeah the recirculating shower grosses me out too. There was another channel with someone who sampled the water in theirs after every shower for a week (or something like that) and had it lab tested. As you would expect even with all the filters it became more murky after every shower and the...

PV pumped Hydronic Solar Hot Water

I feel stupid! I was thinking the actual usable water got pumped up into the collectors to be heated, now I realize it stays in your tank and only the PG/water mix gets pumped up to gather heat. I appreciate the explanation!

    AIO vs Victron

If for example you are getting 1000w pv input that is charging the batteries, and you turn on a 400w load, then pv power will automatically power the load and charging would decrease to 600w until you removed the load. A battery can't be charged and discharged at the same time, so your loads...

PV pumped Hydronic Solar Hot Water

But then aren't you at risk of freezing every night during winter if you aren't actively pumping heat into them?

PV pumped Hydronic Solar Hot Water

I'm curious about the cold weather usability of these systems. I know you can circulate glycol to stop freezing at night, but then aren't you basically radiating away heat from the tank all night?

    Reason for parallel restrictions?

I would go that way but I'm kinda set on using the lynx power in/shunt/distributor combo, I really like how organized and clean that setup is.

    Where is @Will Prowse?

My idea for new videos is a solar version of those home makeover shows. Find janky systems and show the owner/installer what they did wrong and how to do it right. It would be great content!

Reading 13.5 on charged, disconnected batteries

Taking it down that low over long periods of time will cause sulfation and loss of capacity. Failing to fully charge them enough can also cause damage. Two years of abuse could mean the batteries are in poor health, combined with a decrease in solar input as mikefitz mentioned and it's not...

Combiner box vs all-in-one inverter setup

Not sure of the exact specs of your panels but it's very possible you will exceed an mc4's amp rating if you run 4 in parallel. How many amps are the panels rated for? If you are over the mc4's limit then you might need a combiner box.

How do I stop someone following me?

Not sure what this feature is for, I guess I could kinda see it being menacing if you weren't getting along with someone and they followed you. Chad, I followed you but now I'm going to unfollow. Don't take it personally it was fun while it lasted ?

    Watts vs watt hour

If it was me I'd go with the plus model with the 200a bms. I'd rather have the extra power potential compared to slightly more capacity. Just my preference. What size inverter are you going to use?
  34. C

    Watts vs watt hour

It would be helpful to have a link to both batteries. From the limited info it looks like the 200ah one has a higher rated BMS if it's able to support 5800w, or is that supposed to be 5800wh?

Multiple Battery Banks across Several Paralleled Inverters???

I posted this in the other thread about parallel inverters with separate battery banks, I don't know if it's specific to victron or not: "Every DC connection (on every Multi/Quattro and on every battery) has to be connected together to a single DC bus. Do not build systems with separated...
