"Storm Watch" (Tesla Powerwall) Equivalent Feature for Sol-Ark 15k

Following. I searched the internet for storm watch solark and was lead here to somebody simply asking the same question I'm looking to get answered. If I come across any solutions I'll report here.

360V DC input split phase 120V/240V AC inverter

I've been buying the cheaper 5KW Auto transformer from Amazon. I take it apart to utilize the center tap neutral and it's been working pretty good. When running over 2.5 KW of imbalance I put a fan on it. Doubtfully it could continue much more than 3KW without a fan.

360V DC input split phase 120V/240V AC inverter

I have used the Delta h6 PV input tethered to the high voltage battery of my car. It works great if you take it apart and disable the arc fault protection. I've also tied into its DC bus which is 516 volts with a 65KWH lithium iron phosphate battery. I've been running my house like this for...

    MakeSkyBlue MPPT voltage detection

It sounds like your charge controller is bad. Defective! Like the voltage sense inside is off therefore it drags the voltage to the wrong MPP and and with regular amount of voltage thinks it's too high.

You should really consider using a pre-charger. It's super simple to hook up. It's especially important with the high voltage. I use about 16 KWH per 24hrs. That's half of what my PV can bring in. That's four time less than the battery bank size. But I always get some PV power even on rainy...

That sounds awesome. Especially like and appreciate the high voltage battery. Did you utilize the precharge ability of the UBMS? I had to with mine because if I connected My 516 volt battery to my inverter without pre-charging it literally explodes things.

That's awesome. So your inverter, does it require any communication with the batteries BMS? Electricity here is $0.50kwh usd. I got a great deal on my system and it paid itself off in only 2 years. I'm really curious about your inverter though, I was reading the specs and I like what I'm...

What are you doing with 180 volts? I'm off grid and my inverter uses 516 volts so I've got 38 of the 12 volt batteries in series. It's just rare to see people using higher voltage so you got me curious.

    Valence batteries

Have you read the 24 page super thread? Yes you need to add a BMS. Either a valence brand master BMS which I sell for about $1K or else you will need a Chinese BMS for each string of four batteries you have. Chinese BMS's may have the added benefit of having the out of the box ability to...

Are you curious how old your battery is? Just decode the serial number. It's a little white sticker on top of your battery. But old enough, who cares about the month anyway. Right in the serial number shows the year so there's not much to decode. You just have to know which number to look at...

Sol-Ark and generator issue/ suggestions please!

But the grid input has the inductive amperage meters that interact with it. Why they're not built in I'm not sure but I was reading the manual and it seemed as if it could respond quicker on the grid breaker then it could on the generator breaker because of those inductive pickups. I was...

Sol-Ark and generator issue/ suggestions please!

Would connecting the generator to the AC input instead of the generator input and using the generator load shaving ease the instant burden on the generator when the heavy load start? Therefore stopping the sol ark from dropping the generator? This is for people off grid of course.

There are at least one or two threads about using the raspberry. Not in this super thread though. There might be a link to it somewhere in this super tread. If you know your way around a raspberry it's probably easy enough. I've never done it myself.

No it's not safe to run without a balancer. You absolutely must have a balancer that engages only at the upper voltages. Of course you can do this by keeping the board awake. Now it's arguably safe enough to run without a BMS as long as you have the balancer. Set your low voltage cut off to...

I've been searching for a way. Never found it yet. There is speak of calibration in the code. And I have a feeling it's in there more advanced set of software which I haven't been privileged with.

    Resistor size for precharge circuit

This should only take somewhere between 1 and 3 seconds. One way to tell would be to run the wire through a properly rated incandescent light bulb. When you hold the button down when there's current flowing the light will be on and when the current is done flowing and the pre-charging is...

Using a gen 2 Toyota Prius as a generator

I'm super happy to hear that the growatt works with this. How many sessions have you done this with the growatt so far? With my Tesla inverter I've only done it a handful of times because my house battery is so huge now that I rarely ever need a backup generator. One thing I found is that...

Sol-Ark Installers Experience - All Common questions and answers

I've got a question about the pre-charge need. I'm building a custom Valence BMS for a customer who's going to be running two of these 12K inverters. I'm worried the customer may flip the battery switch off for one of the inverters and then later turn it back on blowing up things. This happens...

+13.18V seems lower than it should be. What was the other batteries reading at that time? Seems like you're on the right track. Like you're going to have to open these batteries up and measure the cells without the BMS interfering.

Two 12V LiFePo4 batteries in Series one shows Reverse Polarity

You should hook them both up in parallel and charge them up to 14.5 volts and hold them there for an hour. Then put them back in series. Looks like you should also have an extra balancer similar to the one I have listed here but I don't know of any that work at the 12 volt level to keep the two...

Two 12V LiFePo4 batteries in Series one shows Reverse Polarity

Yes I believe you are correct. One of the batteries is open circuit and that's why he's getting the negative result. Now why is it open circuit? Is the BMS failing or is it in protection mode? Just as a side note Some bms's can protect one way as in if they're overcharged it will allow...

Honestly I don't think I'd even use them in regular lithium ion where the voltage curve isn't so flat because if you had a week or lower capacity sell dive in voltage under a heavy load you would have the active balancer charging that cell at that moment which could again cause a problem during...

    Valence XP Super Thread

I also think active balancers with no voltage cut in set point that work on every cell individually instead of in groups of four like the one above are also a bad idea. The voltage curve is so flat that even the slightest imperfection in a voltage sample can cause the active balancer too create...

I can no longer suggest active balancers that don't have a cut in voltage set point for lfp batteries. Valence is lfp. What recently happened to me is when one cell has a slow self-discharge the balancer in the picture caused all the others to dump their power into its bank of 4 which raises...
