    Sold: Smartsolar 100/50

Spare MPPT I've had on the shelf for a bit. Still taped up in the original plastic/box. $200 picked up or how about $220 shipped ground in the US. In Lafayette, CO

    Trouble Charging LiTime TM Batteries

You need to understand the function of the BMS. It should be monitoring individual internal cell voltages. If a cell is going too high or too low, it'll cut out charge or discharge respectively. Once you give up on the company, you may want to consider adding a different BMS. Either way, I'd at...

I can check the charge state if you're actually interested. They had a nice charge but have been sitting.

    I have four Tesla modules...

I still have these and just moved. $1500 to get them out of my shop. The description was a bit off, I have four. 3x are perfect, the fourth has the corrosion. I may just turn them into a power wall, dunno.

    Orion JR2 BMS FS

The JR2 I have is model J2BMS16C. 500a hall effect. Harness connectors are all there, but you can get replacements from orionbms.com if you want to re-cut them. I mostly kept things intact since I kept messing with my physical install for a while. I paid $656 for it in Jan 2022.

    Orion JR2 BMS FS

I'll go look in a bit. I just moved but I think I know where I shuffled things around to. Yes it has the hall effect sensor, amps are dependent on the contactor. The hard lesson I learned there was to make sure you buy one with the economizer.

REC ABMS and Raspberry Pi integration?

The rec needs to be configured via firmware to talk victron compatible canbus sentences. In theory you shouldn't need additional software other than the can driver to get it to work. I use a cerbo on my boat with my REC. For me it's worth it to run the cerbo since I also have a WS500 alternator...

    FWIW: My LiFePO4 sailboat upgrade

I see you already mentioned the solar breaker... so let's say that you need to consider your schematic the source of truth. Mark that you have mulitple, etc. Note that things are simplified or whatever or we can't really give you complete feedback.

    FWIW: My LiFePO4 sailboat upgrade

OK, let's talk about this a bit. I don't know what's being added vs augmented here. It would be a good idea to identify existing/new so that you can determine if something should be replaced or re-sized. A 50A breaker behind a 15 amp MPPT is wrong. You should have a breaker that matches the...

    2 Multiplus II 24dc /3000Va / 70 - 50 in parallel

wait. I just read the question again about wire size from the inverters to the AC panels. No, you won't need 2 awg. Jebus. AC wire sizing is far smaller, you're confusing DC requirements with AC. Battery to inverter: DC, Inverter to breaker panel: AC.

    2 Multiplus II 24dc /3000Va / 70 - 50 in parallel

I have a 3000/24 in my RV and a 5000/24 in my boat. Both have 24v lifepo4 packs. Honestly, you are not going to reduce your need for wire in this build. Your total amperage is going to be the same no matter what. Since this determines the amount of wire you need... it's no savings to be found...

Two electric unicycles + 140kWh of dead cells + Solar panels (Bayliner hybrid)

Yeah, you're gonna want a 50A shore power connector on that thing. For the voltages/loading I'd go with REC BMS and custom packs. 300ah cells will serve you better than a crap ton of 100ah cells. Rec supports master/slave BMS deployments, You can build multiple 48v high capacity packs that'll...

    Finalish Sailboat Build/Design choices/build.

After lots lessons learned, I figured I'd talk about my latest build changes in my 46 foot sailboat. #1: 24V Inverter/solar battery pack. The solar pack is a ~600Ah 24v lifepo4 pack. Its managed by a REC Q BMS, which talks canbus to my victron Cerbo. The REC has a pre-charge controller with a...

    Orion JR2 BMS FS

I have a few Orions actually. I have one Orion JR2 BMS that I purchased new earlier last year. It's been on my boat on the hard in Florida, and the DB9 has some lovely surface rust on it. I am replacing it with a REC BMS that'll work better with my victron gear and wakespeed controller. The BMS...

Cutoff Solenoids - what works and what doesn't.

I've gone through a pile of solenoids in my safety cutoff quests. Here's my list of successes and failures. Specifically, I've been working with Victron Multiplus and Quattro Inverters on 24v LifePO4 packs. On the BMS side, I've been using an Electrodacus SBMS0 and an OrionJR 2 BMS. The average...

    9s 28.8v lifepo4 bank?

I'm actually looking at running 9s on my main boat pack. I already have all the expensive bits - Victron MPPTs, Quattro inverter, Canbus BMS, etc. I'm reconstructing my battery pack after an overdischarge event murdered some cells. (I'm not happy, this wasn't supposed to happen but we the pump...

Flexibility of a DIY build has it's advantages. (And the opportunity to screw up)

Warning - I was partly stupid here, but was also able to mitigate some issues... So my camper build suffered a couple of deep discharges thanks to some service dweebs. (An unswitched load and the camper being parked in a service bay with no power for a couple of weeks.) The result was one cell...

    Best battery for electric windlass

The discharge rate on those LTO's is really impressive. Very interesting.

    Best battery for electric windlass

Erm... starter batteries are not made to run a high load for 3-4 minutes solid. They are made for the 15-20 second start load. You really want more of a dual purpose starter/deep cycle for this in lead acid land. My windlass spec's in at 1200 watts, at 12v that's 100A, at 14v, more like 85A...

    Best battery for electric windlass

@mikefitz please expand on that - why do you think that lead acid is the way to go for a windlass battery? You've given no reason. As long as the battery is built to handle the discharge rate I don't think I agree.

    Best battery for electric windlass

A bit ironically, I decided to put in a 24v alt + WS500 to charge my main pack. So I'm looking at making up 2 or 3 packs: Windlass, Engine Start and something to drive my new electric winches.

Keel up 12/24/48V new system questions

That's quite a few voltages to deal with. My system is similar on my 46ft 24v Lifepo4 pack 915Ah 5000/24 Quattro 3x 550w panels with 100/20 mppt controllers for each. Custom panel builds

Given the cell outputs, I'm digging this. The marinized cells are $$, but in reality they are just custom made with a frickton of resin on top so people can walk on them.

    Custom panel builds

I'm just starting to dig into the idea of a custom panel build. What do I mean? Well, I've got this: Which I've built using finished nidacore panels. It's the new hard bimini for my sailboat. It rocks in at 8 ft by 12 ft! I've got three 550 watt panels I was planning to stick on here. I'll end...
