    Half price electric cars

He/she has no numbers and is stating an opinion. I'm certainly not confining myself to short trips or charging only at home, and I'm saving a bundle.

    Koolertron?

I think I bought the last one. Received it yesterday. I'm testing it today with a small Lithium DIY pack.

    MakeSkyBlue are still ripoff, beware.

I have the same unit as you, in my garage which has a 1 KW solar array and a DIY 280Ah LiFePo4 in a crate. Three years running and never a hiccup. Shoot, I even have some LED lights connected to the Load terminals, also never an issue.

    Where is @Will Prowse?

I built a "milk crate" system (12v 280Ah) and it's brilliant, based on your video. Perhaps a newer video, with a parts list and detailed schematic would be useful. Mine currently powers my garage lights, ebike and power tool charging, and fan. I put a 4 wheel dolly under the crate and a leash to...

Wills recommendations is there a dedicated thread I’m missing?

You might consider having a solar charge controller on the auxilliary panel, and run straight to the battery. That's what I have. The battery can handle both sources, as its BMS will manage the battery state.

Your camper sounds like a 13' Scamp. I have a simliar setup as you, although with a 120Ah DIY battery. When I need to supplement my rooftop solar I always have on hand a portable panel which doubles my capacity. This could very well work for you as well.

    Permanent vs Temporary Panel Install

Three years ago I mounted one of two flexible 175 watt Eco-Worthy panels to my little Scamp camper. After 2 years either in use or sitting in my driveway, output, which never met it's rating, fell to half. I contemplated removing the first and adding the second, but decided instead to mount a...

    Forum improvements ideas

I would certainly endorse the addition of a "Solar Appliances" and 12/24v appliances. Given that the title of the forum is "DIY Solar Power Forum" I'm not enthusiastic about "other renewable..." I find it time consuming enough just to deal with the former.

    38 SEER! $1300 WOW

After living for the past 12 years in southeast Asia, I know only mini-splits. Every single condominium, house, shop or store has been using them forever. Only malls and factories have any duct work in them. They work, they last, are easy to service and clean.

Is this risky? SanTan used panels with backside vinyl cracking, tested good, no signs of moisture

I wouldn't hesitate for a moment. Every panel I've purchased from San Tan (used, snail trails, etc) has worked to perfection. Spray some Flexseal over the cracks and rest easy.

    Combining Panels

I have done the testing. To be honest the panel never delivered anything close to 160 watts. When new I was lucky to get 90-110 watts. The MPPT SCC keeps an historical record of charging so it's easy enough to see how the panel is performing and it's declining performance. If I purchase the 50w...

    Combining Panels

Greetings. I have a small camper on which I have and Eco-Worthy 160w flexible panel. The specifications are: 160W Max. power Current(Imp) 9.06A Short circuit current(Isc) 9.60A Max. power voltage (Vmp) 17.7V Open circuit voltage(Voc) 20.68V Needless to say, after 3 years...

At this point... if you are buying From Alibaba/Aliexpress you deserve what you get.

Fair enough. I'll rephrase my comment to state that "Impugning the character of all vendors on AliExpress is unfair and unwarranted". We might also be advised to avoid conflating the behavior of a few bad actors at AliExpress with the bad behavior of the "(communist) government of mainland...

At this point... if you are buying From Alibaba/Aliexpress you deserve what you get.

I did have a gratifying experience after purchasing an all-in-one Ruixu 100ah battery from AliExpress. It would not take a charge nor would it discharge. The vendor in my case was entirely helpful and at the end of the day I received a full refund without returning the battery. Upon my own tear...

    Zero Breeze power station

I'm uncertain why you label the campaign as "another Indiegogo scam". Had you researched the campaign you would have learned it closed in 2020 with 98% of the units delivered. The last update was a thank you to the campaign's backers, with not a whiff of irony. The Mark 2 does what it was...

Thanks. I'm not sure of the voltage requirements, but that's a thought. I did though find that there are low power boost converters that would make that work.

I posted a week or so ago that I thought I had a failed cell among the 4 120Ah cells in my DIY battery. In my haste I ordered a single replacement. Only after returning home from our long trip did I determine that the BMS had failed. I now have a working battery again (with new BMS), as well as...

Looking for suggestions for a power station to power a portable A/C all day

I have the same A/C. It's nice, and does a great job of cooling the enclosed sleeping area in our Scamp camper. But, honestly, I can't imagine how you could make it work in the large, open space in a typical UPS delivery truck irrespective of how you manage to power it.

    Getting to a full charge

UPDATE 2: the battery is performing well. Today, in full sun and with 2 160w panels in parallel the charge controller stopped charging right at 14.6 (the overcharge limit). BMS readings showed the same. So it appears that the original BMS was the source of my problems. Thanks again.

    Getting to a full charge

UPDATE: I reassembled the cells in series and ran my bench charger at its full 10 amps for nearly 8 hours when I finally saw some upward movement. I started monitoring every few moments suspecting that I had hit the last knee. Sure enough within 30 minutes the pack was nearly 14 volts. I let...

    Getting to a full charge

Greetings. I assembled a 120Ah LiFePo4 battery about 2 years ago, and installed it in my small camper. It has been a great performer, with few issues. That said, during a recent 6 week road trip which saw many days of little to no sun, the BMS shut the battery down until I was able to supply...

    SAN TAN SOLAR PANELS

I have not yet used one on my camper, but I have purchased 20 for myself and a couple of friends. They were the used 250w panels, both those with and without the so-called "snail trails". To date all of us are pleased. My 1KW array on my garage (no utility power) has been flawless in keeping my...

    Feeling ripped off

If you purchase a 4-prong aviation female plug you will enable the Pecron panels to be used in any application, just as you would were you to, as others suggested, cut and re-terminated the panels to an MC-4. The panels aren't proprietary, nor are the connectors. It's simply the choice of...

Shattered glass on panels... garbage now ?

I had the same thing happen with a suitcase panel. I used this: Clear Protective 4Mil Vinyl Window Glass Wrap Shatterproof Security Film. It is still holding. I believe the most important thing is to stop pieces from falling off the panel and to prevent moisture intrusion.

Anyone here watched “Planet of the humans” by Michael Moore?

The film was initially removed for copyright infringement, but not because you were "right". The filmmakers argued that the segment in question was permissible under "fair use" and succeeded in having it restored. It is now freely available.
