where to buy mini split, besides amazon&ebay

I can't imagine a tech being happy to only do the vacuum when they can make much more money selling the equipment and then installing. Will definitely look at it though. I need 9k in the workout room. Goal is to also put a dual head unit in the kitchen / dining area. That will be later...

    Transfer switch recommendations

TLDR - what do I tell the electrician to use to setup grid as backup and my solar as primary? So I am finally far enough on my list to get an electrician to hook the solar system up to the house. Biggest issue is getting the grid setup as a backup system. What I wanted to do was install a new...

    Low cost SCC suggestions?

I am in Indiana. Thanks! I know the panels can't go together. I have 3 of the 100W and lots of the 250W. 1 should be enough for the light use of the fencer. I can always add another if necessary. (the 100W are part of my "grab the portable stuff and get to family" pack) I will look at...

    Low cost SCC suggestions?

I have an an electric fence that uses a 12v battery as a power source. I already have a spare 250W and a 100W panel from another project using an AIO unit. I need to keep the battery charged and know either will do it. But I need a SCC for the system. Want an ok one but since it will be in...

    24K mini split in barn....

I am imaging putting one in our barn. About the same size. Might help. I understand wanting to keep it more bearable. Between that requirement and the foam insulation, all I can say is "Try it." Always add another unit. Bearable to me is different than to others. My day job I want the...

Non penetrating ground solar mount permit requirement.

You need to open the code and see what is spelled out. do NOT assume anything. I am putting up a building as Permanent in the State code requires concrete foundation. So I am using penetrators to secure it. https://americanearthanchors.com/shop-by-product/penetrators/

Strip lights are preferred. Good point on motion sensor.

I have spare panels. Rest is minor cost - so what string of lights would you recommend? Then I just need a motion sensor to put inside.

    Solar lights recommendations

Got a shed out in middle of field w no windows. Need to put light inside it. Would like to just do solar powered (just lights so I can see) so I don’t have to worry about keeping things charged. So many options. Ick. Anyone got experience w a kit consisting of a small panel for outside...

Family in high-rise building, no panel(s) allowed, 72 hour backup plan

I would like to see the wording on this. You are not wanting permanent. Just oh shoot coverage. If on top floor run long cables and lay them on the roof. Chance of them going by by though.

Family in high-rise building, no panel(s) allowed, 72 hour backup plan

A couple of portable solar panels that can easily be stored and then put outside when the power is out. May not be much, but 2-3 100W panels can be easily put on a deck/patio/etc and easily stored for need.

    EG4 Chargeverter

Got lots to read through on this. But this solves a MAJOR issue for me and my system. Working with a dirty genny is almost priceless. Making so I don't need 2 transfer boxes (grid + genny) saves me what this will cost. I have a 3000W genny and will have lots of batteries attached.

    Indianapolis- remote ok

I have 30 panels to get setup in 3 different sets (max to fit my controllers). I need help figuring out where to put the sets in my property. Challenge is trees to east - house to west a and all facing South loses a ton of light hours. If you can help install, fine. If you can just help me...

    Freeze-ageddan oops

I am in Indiana and when the reports of the deep freeze heading towards us, priorities shifted. Animal housing was prepped so they were dry and out of the wind. Generator was started to ensure power would not be lost (grid is above ground through trees). Canned foods were moved back to the...

    Signature Solar EG4 6.5K Off-Grid Inverter | 6500EX-48

Overkill BMSs here as well. Thanks for the link on the shunt. I REALLY wish the inverters would talk with the Overkill BMSs but this shunt would make life easier to monitor the system.

    Signature Solar EG4 6.5K Off-Grid Inverter | 6500EX-48

Would like to see this. You are going to put 5 chargers onto the main bus bar? Your setup sounds like what I am going to be facing - I have a 6500 geny and am trying to figure out how to run either grid or geny to the inverters (I also have 2 of the 6500) to recharge everything. Right now I...

EG4 6000EX.. charge batteries when only 120VAC input is available?

Then why use an all in one device? If I am buying a charger, I could just get an inverter and charge controller separately and go from there. What about the EG6500? Can I run 120V into each of them (two tied together for 240V out) and have that used to charge the batteries? Or pass through?

EG4 6000EX.. charge batteries when only 120VAC input is available?

This has me wondering if my 2 EG 6500 putting out 240 will let me charge via 120 off a genny. Even if I just run directly to one of them. That would let it charge the batteries. I was not going to run 240 to them to charge via grid. Hmmm. Time to find time to dig deep into the manual.

    Good deal?

Take the time and PLAN. Figure out what you want to power and the consumption that goes with that. These kits will be around. you may find you need bigger paneling but less inverter. Or more inverter. I am slowly designing a trailer system and the system demands are tough to determine since...

    How would you string this?

Remeasured - I had the 100 correct - but was yards. Well, 100 steps at 1 yard/Meter each (this includes plenty of slack for nondirect routing). Thank you

    Fire suppression

Bringing this thread back up. Was thinking of the Elide fire balls and a CO2 system. My entire system will be in the garage. More worried about stopping the spread of any issues to the house than stopping the batteries (they will be on metal shelves away from the walls that are covered in...

    How would you string this?

Need some help laying out my panel setup to maximize production and minimize wire cost. Facing south and west give me the best sun. South is totally clear. West gets sun most of the afternoon. I do not know how much sun will reach pure west facing panels in the winter as we are new to the...

Are there any write ups of people who supply all their energy needs (including transportation) via solar?

Ok, prices jumped in the past month. I forgot about their shutdown. Still significantly cheaper than 80K.

Are there any write ups of people who supply all their energy needs (including transportation) via solar?

If you buy prebuilt, then you are off a little bit - the EG4 batteries will cost 60k for 150 KWh. But you can build that out of cells and a BMS for just over $10k. (I priced it for a buddy who goes through 150 KW per day).

Another wire size question: 4 inverters in parallel

OP - please keep us updated. I am building my system with 2 of these inverters. I am also roughly designing one for a friend with 4 inverters (he needs 400A service). Biggest difference for me is the size of the system behind the inverters as he uses 150kW per day. The #panels and batteries...

Would you show how you physically attached the panels to the angle iron? I can buy Angle Iron at wholesale - might be easiest option. Thanks
