MPP Solar unit suddenly not detecting PV input

Have had a dual 3048 system running for months. Suddenly one unit is not detecting the solar array it is connected too. Checked by flipping the panels to the other unit and it detects them just fine. So clearly the issue is at the MPP Unit. Both units are connected to 700w, 9amps, 80v, so well...

    MPP 3048 x2 grounding

Ok thats done. No AC Output ground connected. Going to take the ground and connect it directly to the hull ground plate. The AC input is not grounded (as it doesnt exist yet for US 110v, so when i put it in i would ground it to the boat) Thanks for the help ! Glad i double checked here ...

    MPP 3048 x2 grounding

Thanks !! I was starting to think about disconnecting the AC Ground Output and just connect directly to the ground! As for the Genset/Shore power. It would literally be one or the other with a switch that opens/closes the circuits to isolate the generator if i ever did hook up to shore power.

    MPP 3048 x2 grounding

I am doing both. 2 separate 110v circuits, and 1 combined split phase circuit. So should I have both units share their AC output grounds? Or should I disconnect one or both of them?

    MPP 3048 x2 grounding

So this is what i have today. Right now im still installing so there is no load on this... and so far nothing went BANG ! Is it ok for the both units to share ground for the AC Output ? And then part 2 to this. If i DO add AC Input will i have issues if that is grounded (but not a shared...

    MPP 3048 x2 grounding

Just saw Wills video about ground bonding and trying to find out exactly how i need to have my setup wired. I have 2 units setup for split phase. Right now I have it wired that only the AC outputs are connected to a shared ground. Is this correct ? Sounds like the MPP units might be bonding...

2x MppSolar PIP-3048-LV-MK Units with Parallel Board - AC Charging - GFI Tripping Problem

Hi. Did you all get to the bottom of this ? Just saw Wills video about ground bonding and trying to find out exactly how i need to have my setup wired. I have 2 units setup for split phase. Right now I have it wired that the only the AC outputs are connected to a shared ground. Is this correct...

Understanding MPP Solar charge settings for LifePO4 batteries

I had similar issues. Changed the logic on Program 32 : Bulk Charge Time (C.V Stage) from AUTO to 480 (8 hours) I think its more getting it off Auto mode as that appears to make a bad choice and start Floating immediately. Another thing, bank needs to be below Float for BULK charing to kick in...

    10-KW* DIY Install - MPP Solar LV5048 - 2x Tesla Modules

Curious with using the MPP Dry Contact Signal to trigger the relay, how best to configure your system for this? Assuming your using Back to Charge (BtC) and Back to Battery (BtB) settings and logic : Battery voltage < BtC = relay CLOSED Battery voltage > BtB = relay OPEN If so what settings...

Are these cells to far out of balance?

Yeah - i am not sure when the balance logic kicks in, both data points listed are from the manufactures (DALY) specifications listed. i would like to think/hope its 3.5v per cell

Are these cells to far out of balance?

Well that took me AGES to find. But for you DALY BMS owners: The working principle and function are as followings, when your one cell voltage is upto alarm voltage(Li-ion upto 4.18V, Life Po4 upto (3.6V), then the cell Balance starts to work, balance resistance starts discharge with 35ma(when...

    Direct to water heating.

ahh never quite understood that. Have not found DC elements for the hot water tank/heater i have. so would assume in that case its a relay off the AC inverter ?

Im not tied to the grid (boat system). water heater is AC

Are these cells to far out of balance?

im thinking i want to ensure the cells that are higher than the rest dont get repeatedly charged to a higher voltage than the rest of the bank in order to extend their life. I thought the BMS will only leach power from a cell if the voltage for that cell is pretty high? not sure exectly what...

    Direct to water heating.

Trying to understand exactly how this works. When you dump power to a water heater, is the excess power coming directly from the solar/MPPT system, or are you really using battery power and letting the solar/MPPT keep topping up the batteries ? FYI i have a MPP solar system, and from what i...

Are these cells to far out of balance?

I have a 48v 16c 250amp DALY BMS attached ;) Going to top balance them all . just rechecked after a full day of charging and have a couple at 3.5, 4 at 3.44 and the rest at 3.3x so going to get them all into a better alignment before installing into the boat. as then its down to the BMS to...

Are these cells to far out of balance?

I have a 16s 48v bank. right now i have 3 cells at 3.4v and all the others at 3.33v as this is a new bank i think i will take the time and balance them all. but it will be one and done, as after that it all goes in my boat and thats... no other power source TO balance them from :D :D :D So they...

curious whats an acceptable variance between cells that you just let the BMS handle it ?

How long does it take to charge 48v, 280ah bank?

Should i configure my solar panels to have higher watts or amps then to charge the batteries faster ? (Serial or parallel) ? right now they are in series + to - etc Could swap to parallel + to + etc

How long does it take to charge 48v, 280ah bank?

I've been running/charging for 3 days... hence my concern. Each day has been clear blue skies. Today ironically is slight overcast ? .. but what i am hearing is it doesn't sound too far off, and that i just need to be patient ? ;) Is that as the charge/discharge curve for LifePo4 cells are so...

How long does it take to charge 48v, 280ah bank?

I have no usage/draw on the system. Setup on my work bench for testing prior to full install. so im really just wanting to fully charge the batteries and get a sense of how long that will take :)

How long does it take to charge 48v, 280ah bank?

Hi New to this, searched and could find an answer. Trying to get a ballpark (sanity reassurance) on how long it takes to charge my 48v battery bank. its been sitting around 53-54v for a couple of days now. Starts off at 53v in the morning, and ends at 54v in the evening Bank is made of 16x280ah...

    48v 280ah 3.29v cells. best settings?

Hi all. Well i have my 48v 16cell bank up and running with Daly (Non-SMART) BMS. The cells are marked 280ah 3.29v Setting up my MPPT system withWatchPower to set Bulk/Float/Min etc settings looking for some advice. Assume Bulk should be 16x3.29v = 52.6v Float something a bit lower ie 50v or...

How to tell if BMS Dead or working? [DALY BMS 4S 12V 100A - COMMON PORT]

Actually i got it working. Pulled the balance cable and test each line to the black. All correctly setup, and incremented from 3v to 52v Plugged it back into the BMS and retest - BOOM ! Not literally but i do have 52v out of the BMS now :D

How to tell if BMS Dead or working? [DALY BMS 4S 12V 100A - COMMON PORT]

Just found this. Mines doing the same. Daly 48v 250amp NON-SMART BMS From bank + to - i read 53v Yet from bank + to BMS - i only read 9v Just to confirm this is ok to do with a 48v bank? "wake up trick" :

Finally ready for review: 1.7kw solar, 48v LifePo4, 2x3kw Split Phase for boat

Im only keeping the 12v AGM setup as the batteries are less than a year old. So using them as a buffer between my main LifePo4 bank and the 12v system. Eventually I will probably get another 48v bank and replace the AGM's completely, using only the 48v-12v step down puck. (or keep 1 battery for...

Finally ready for review: 1.7kw solar, 48v LifePo4, 2x3kw Split Phase for boat

What do you have today ? Assume you already have a 12v circuit with 12v only devices (windlass, etc) ? If not then consider 24v! Im going 48v as the charger/inverters ONLY support 48v battery banks, hence why i need to step down convertor to feed my existing 12v system. However i am trying to...
