I already have a 12v sine wave inverter. 500.00 was invested in this some years ago. Im thinking 1200 amp-hrs of 12v power would keep my refrigerator and freezer and a few led lights and fans running all night. Also i have 700w of 12v solar panels. (I know a 12v system is going to have really lousy efficiency. ) What type battery bank should i go with? 6v golf cart batteries i think would be good but they cost an arm and a leg. 12v automotive deep cycle batteries are only 100 or so each but have a short life and are lousy! Lifepo? Li-ion? And what charge controller? Is it better to wire panels for 24v and just replace the 12v inverter with a 24volt unit?

1200 amp hours would power an average fridge for a week without any help from the solar. Fan would probably use more. First thing I would do is buy a kill-a watt meter to know what's what. Assuming you have power now.
