104% Tariff Just Announced On Chinese Imports..

Whatever happens in the end, most of the world now don't trust the US as a reliable trading partner and will try to pivot away from dealing with them, I guess the supporters of this policy want a more insular, less powerful US ruled by selfish billionaire elites, as that's how the rest of the world will now see them.

The talk of China's collapse from US tariffs is probably more US cope than any likelihood. I think something like 13% of China's GDP is from exports to the US, but 15% of all goods sold in the US are from China, and although the US's GDP is higher than China's, their PPP GDP is higher than the US's, so it's maybe close but the US will hurt more the longer this goes on. In the meantime, in the UK I'm looking forward to some more cheap cells from China. (Figure's are from memory in the video below)

If you're a far right Trump supporter or millionaire, equality hating capitalist you won't like this, but for everyone else this is a good summary of what's going on (Albeit it's a bit long):

Not even a desire to become educated regarding the effect of local/worldwide events...
One of the young electchickens I work he likes the fact that Pierre Polieve has said he will use the not withstanding clause in the constitution for force consecutive sentence against criminals.
The supreme court has ruled this unconstitutional but the not withstanding clause lets provincial and federal governments override the constitution and courts under special circumstance..

The intention was to allow provincial govs to opt out of things, really it was there to allow Quebec to make the province french only rather than Bilingual to protect the french language.
They only used it once to force signs to be bigger in french and stupid shit..

It has been used by conservative governments to over ride the constitution and courts with increasingly scary purposes.
Its only ever been used by a progressive gov to protect a language... ( and I don't actually agree with that but its mostly harmless as such )

To the meat of my statement.
The young electchicken doesn't understand what it is, or means.
Does not know its being used to override the constitution, supreme court or human rights if used for this purpose.

Thats fucking scary

It was a political taboo to never use that part of the constitution for any purpose other than to protect minority language rights.

Its a bit of a re run but Music for the coming age ignorance...

No offense but I think that you guys might just benefit from statehood with a constitution as screwed up as that with obvious consequences. I'd feel a lot more comfortable fighting this trade war or any Pacific-based war for that matter together as fellow countrymen than in any other scenario uneedingly slowing either of us down when crunch time hits out of nowhere.
Mexicans, Canadians, Peruvians, Greenlanders...I really don't care who you are on this continent or not...we've got one heck of a lot bigger things to worry about right now than tarrifs or whose anthem that we'll all be singing tomorrow.

A lot of great sovereign minds posting, many with receipts attached! Thank you all, I wonder how many folks are surprised at this chart, particularly knowing the years the US economy was rocking at tariff levels far higher than Smoot-Hawley, many pre 1891. I was shocked 1744776558333.jpegBloomberg put this chart of tariffs back past 1918. The intern must be dyslexic and turned 1918 into 1891. The editors were asleep, letting out info that causes people to ask more questions. How did the US economy rock at much higher tariffs? I am hoping to "pattern match”, (...some say A.I. but I have yet to run into any) that out of the ~ 10000 pgs of American Banking Magazine monthlies of the 1800's ... that the banks colluded by all-in-unison setting dates 3-5 yrs in future not to renew loans in order to buy back farms & businesses at pennies on the dollar. Wonder if any of those events line up with tariff fluctuations from1800-1920

The cartel is in danger when showing tariffs during the 1800's when Alexis de Tocqueville’s 1831 one year walk-about the USA and resulting 1835 book Democracy In America is still out. It pulled the cover back when nearly all white Americans were sovereigns. One example was Americans, with NO schools were 91-97% literate in 1831, all before going to work fulltime at 15 yrs of age. This literacy rate was far greater than the best schools in UK & Europe and resulted in Congressman Abe Lincoln commenting on how desperate Europeans were to get wealthier Americans to start schools to dumbdown. The book sent shock-waves ...it had +150 printings between 1835-1840, translated into 15 languages. I encourage all to download the free 4 separate pdfs ~500 pgs each Democracy in America: Historical-Critical Edition, vol. 1-4 Scholars added writings Alexis left out & context, adding 1200 more pgs to the original 900.

Search the volumes for the word “Russia” Find the assay Alexis wrote hours off the boat, watching American commoners coming together every week to give speeches on keeping sovereignty, “preventing government tyranny” And Alexis asking Americans “Are you going to go to war with Russia” only to hear “God no, Russia is our greatest friend and ally, if we don’t try to correct our friend we are guilty of the same” Lincoln asked the Russian Navy to patrol the east coast & San Francisco to keep Europeans out during the civil war. The British responded with a bullet after the war to prevent Lincoln & Czar Nicholas building a railroad across Russia to Alaska down to San Fran. Also read Alexis' assay1850 ish? saying the two countries, USA & Russia are natural friends & future super powers.

Nor is China our enemy, Britain is the cause of most of the conflict in the world involving the USA & still our greatest enemy. Read any of Joseph Needham’s work Science & Civilization of China & you will see what China is when not dumbed downed with British opium & wars. Not 14 volumes & more digestible is YouTube Empires Of Silver there was nothing China wanted or needed from the world except silver. After China had all the silver Britain started the opium drug running to get it back, FDR’s grand dad joined in.

Thomas Edison’s mama hanked him out of school in 1852 when his dumbing-down ‘instructor’ said “the addled 5th grader” She knew enough as what America had & put him out to free range learn, and be sovereign. Just think of what Edison could of done if he didn’t waste those 5 yrs. Edison only hired about 15% of the PhD’s seeking work from Europe, preferred self taught Americans. Lets all help restore what we had. Ist learn what we had.

I've been hearing from a lot of young folk of late that if the free world hadn't of fought so hard to exist (ie. slap whatever trade tariff that you want on anyone that you so please) nor done such a messy job of gettin' folks that way...that we all wouldn't know any different (today)...and maybe that we all would've been just fine and dandy anyways.
Yeah I'm not apologizing to anyone for anything and choosing to honor instead those who got me here (free) via their own sacrifice by hell or high water in the first place. Ditto for their families left behind.
God Bless America, Britain and every other country who has ever fought/sacrificed beside either of us so that this forum let alone the entire world as we know it could even exist as we know it today...warts and all.

The USA no longer seen as a safe and reliable provider of oil and LNG...
OPEC goes after American Shale oil production and cheaters like Iraq.
Tariff riple effects on the oil markets and demand destruction.

The thing is people like to live in their little echo chamber as it reinforces their mistaken belief they are superior and correct. They post nonsense and others that have the same belief in such nonsense keep stroking each other.

After a period of time, those that actually are correct and don't need an echo chamber drop off the radar and quit responding to the nonsense.

I hope that clears things up for you. :ROFLMAO:

On that note.
I want to remind the believers and boosters of Trump and his drill baby drill bullshit and belief that the USA can wag the dog on world oil production and prices.
Well...
You got what you asked for, oil prices are dropping.
But not because of energy independence but because the Saudis have decided to slap down the fracking industry again and and re-order the oil industry.

And I warned you that shale oil production was in trouble, costs too high fields depleting.
You needed to sheppard those assets, not rape them.
But you get what you deserve..

( thats what you get for being a sheep fucker )

The Saudis are on the bottom half of their oil tank so they cannot produce as before and certainly not cheaper as they have to pump to more shit into the ground to get the oil out

So are you....
But they can still do it cheaper.
Its a case of I don't have to run as fast as the bear, I just need to run faster than you...

I would rather be the one with the limited resource at the end, than to use/sell them all now. If people are willing to sell us a limited resource, why would you want to stop them? The Saudis will just waste it on opulent nonsense anyway. :ROFLMAO:

That's exactly what you are doing.
You are depleting your reserves fast and exporting the oil to make a quick buck.
That export is a quickly diminishing return as your production costs go up and the value of the oil goes down..
The Arabs however have the incentive to sell the oil because even if its value and demand are dropping and they will likely never exceed their ability to produce oil before it becomes un economic. ( they will produce oil and export it from some wells as cheap as 10 dollars a barrel )
You will hit that wall first and very very soon...
You will see oil production start to drop int he USA VERY VERY SOON...

And oil is being weaponized...

I said I would prefer the opposite of that. I know very well what the drill baby drill clowns are doing currently. We should only be doing enough locally that we have the infrastructure and skilled people in place to do it if need be. We should be making/exporting only as much as necessary to keep the other suppliers from getting too greedy.

You should have retooled your refineries to use your own oil.
You should have taken this oil boom as an opportunity to get some breathing space while you transition to an electric instead of fossil fuel economy.

Should have done a lot of things but you didn't.
We should have done the same but we made a lot of money feeding the oil junky down there...

At least Alberta oil once you cook off the light ends make excellent tar for roads...
Since we have more of it than Saudi arabia I guess we shhoudl start looking at some resurfacing work HA HA HA...

This is losing and losing.

Trump brags he ‘rewarded’ farmers with $28bn in taxpayer aid after his first damaging tariffs. He’s set to do it again

‘The USA will PROTECT OUR FARMERS!!!’ Trump vowed about the voters that supported him

Donald Trump boasted in a post on Truth Social Tuesday that he “rewarded” America’s farmers with a bailout of $28 billion in taxpayer aid after an earlier damaging round of tariffs he imposed during his first administration.

He’s now poised to do it again for his “patriots,” who support him at the ballot box. An overwhelming majority in all but 11 of the 444 farming-dependent counties last year backed Trump, according to an analysis by Investigate Midwest.

China’s retaliatory tariffs of 125 percent on U.S. imports after Trump’s imposition of 145 percent levies on Chinese goods will especially hit American farmers because China buys mainly agricultural products from the U.S., including soybeans, oilseeds and grains – as well as $1.6 billion in beef last year.

Meanwhile, farmers have already been hit with massive cuts to school food programs by the administration, and are grappling with devastating floods in Texas and across the Midwest.

Trump needs to be sent to El Salvador Prison to retire as resident, and key thrown away.

I hate Co-Pilot trying to protect it's master. Guess who Trump will be paying
And how about the Saudis they own a lot of land they use just to grow feed for cattle in their own country.

People, private farmers should own land and farm on it.
Best way to protect valuable farm land is put family farms on it, and for the Gov to create policies that keep families on it and encourage sustainable land use.

I have no idea what Bill gates thinks hes doing..
