The clone.
Blessed be the clone.
What was a 600 dollar small engine is now a 150 dollar engine.
Every poor person can have a water pump to grow food and generator.
This would never have happened without Chinese ignoring Honda intellectual property.
They tried to beat it in court

The greyhound from harbour freight almost 20 years ago...
A judge said it was infringing on Honda copyright int he states and Harbour Freight had to make it look different.
Eventually they beat bullshit in court.
Now its a foot note and everything is a clone ( same parts inside so it didn't matter anyways it just meant the gaskets were more expensive )

Mexico? The illegal drug cartel run failed country that is the number 1 source of illegal immigration to the US? Perhaps there is a bigger picture than what you paint. BTW I always hated NAFTA. Ross Perot was right about it.
Guess what Cuba and Mexico are the new snowbird destinations.
You can actualy buy a place... BUY it in Cuba...
Live there 1500 cdn a month...

Trump did this.

I just made 8% 🤘😎
The orange retard caved in...
But he is still dangerous.
Cash out now...

I thought Biden was the one with Dementia.

He can't even do a trade war right.

What is paused?
I just got home and even our gov cant figure out what the orange retard has paused...
I do know there is a Chinese trade delegation in Canada.
No one knows who invited them and what or who they are talking too.
But the sands are shifting and they are looking to make deals with.

Well, they have been screwing us for years. Thankfully, that's finally coming to an end.
But, there's no need to panic. It'll all work out.
And yes, I definitely expect that we will come out on top, once the dust settles.

No, they haven't been screwing us for years. They have been a reliable trading partner for decades and have been quite stable. There have been some issues, sure, but you deal with them through the WTO, not unilaterally.

The sort of juvenile, uninformed, reckless tariffs Trump imposed has destroyed a reputation we have built up for 80 years of being the most reliable and stable trading partner in the world. Now that is gone for decades at the very least, maybe for good. Businesses across the US have already begun suffering from this nonsense as their trading partners in other countries have canceled contracts and found other suppliers. Those contracts are not coming back.

World trade is going to route around the US and we will become far less relevant since we have ceded our leadership in trade and foreign policy. The EU and China are already stepping in to fill the void.

It's far easier to destroy than than it is to create and this is nothing but destructive. Factories aren't going to magically appear in the US overnight to start manufacturing here and even if that magic trick could happen, you're not going to find Americans clamoring to work in textile mills or iPhone factories for a few bucks an hour. Just like Americans are not clamoring to work the jobs we use immigrants for like farming, construction and domestic work.

Let's look at the senior trade advisor who has been pushing these tariffs. That's Peter Navarro. You know how he got that job? He wrote of bunch of whack job economics books that didn't sell very well and was generally considered a crackpot. But he did quote an alleged actual economist "Ron Vara" in all of his books, supporting his wacky ideas. In 2016 Jared Kushner needed to find an economic advisor for the first Trump administration. So Jared, being the incompetent he is, went to Amazon to look for economic books and based on the book covers alone, he decided Peter Navarro was exactly the guy they needed. Well, it turns out that Ron Vara guy Navarro kept quoting in his books was not a real person, but a fictional persona whose name is an anagram of Navarro.

This is why you should never put criminals, failsons, habitual grifters and weirdos in charge. They will screw it up every time.

Idiocracy is truly here. It's maddening watching people who don't know anything about politics, government, geopolitics, global trade or economics applaud the downfall of American leadership and dominance in the world thinking it's actually some savvy negotiation from the biggest business failure this country has ever seen.

So many financial experts who can't pay their student loans. Where was thier ability to see the future when they racked up all that debt?
Threaten them all with JAIL !!!!!
Then put them on a bus to Canada
We will put them to work up here where we need people.

This has been a stupid trade war from the get go.
Pick on Vietnam, they make you cheap shoes!
What do you think you are going to sell them they need to make up for all the cheap shoes?
Exactly. What is the US selling anyway? I saw one particularly stupid person on the TV complain that Japan, Korea and Europe are not buying "Dodge Rams". As if that is some sort of rational argument. Yeah, anyone who has been to Europe, Japan or Korea can tell you that our cars are too big, too expensive and too fuel inefficient for them to want to purchase. I saw someone else complaining that the EU won't buy our meat. Yes, because their standards are higher than ours. Want to sell in their market, then make better products that people want. You don't see China complaining that we don't buy their cars. Why don't we buy their cars? Because they don't meet our safety standards.

And when people talk about trade imbalances in terms of trade deficits alone, they are missing the big picture. Capitalism seeks out cheap labor, we found it, exploited it and made a ton of money. Our economy was the envy of the world. To be pro tariff is to be anti capitalism. Hundreds of years of trade have taught us that tariffs are a scalpel to be used sparingly and only to deal with very specific issues, not to be used across the board.

This is like pulling out all your teeth when you only need a filling. Once you go down that road, there's no growing your teeth back.

If you haven't watched Idiocracy, you should. Mike Judge was quite prescient.

My experience with China. After chasing manufacturing jobs around the country for years, I had a job in purchasing with a majority China owned company manufacturing rail cars. Can't beat them, join them Huh? There is a federal law from back in the 1800s that only allows rail cars on USA tracks to be made in the USA. Some of the first hand points I saw:
  • I was in the same office as the design department. The engineers mostly copied designs instead of designing themselves.
  • Because we "designed" our rail cars, we would request CAD drawings of components to be incorporated into our design. Many USA companies would not provide the drawings just because they didn't want China to steal the design.
  • On two separate occasions, I got quotes on everything to build a rail car. This included getting at least 3 quotes for each item.
    • Go figure that China was able to match, not beat, the lowest quote every time.
    • My Chinese boss asked me one time "How come it is cheaper to ship steel 1/2 way around the world, instead of buying locally?". With out thinking, I replied "there are millions of Americans who would like to know that same answer". (oops) We both looked at each other and came to the same conclusion that there was nothing more to say and walked away.
    • US steel companies stopped providing quotes because they didn't get any business.
  • China started assembling the bottom, top, and 4 walls for hopper cars in China and then shipped them to us to assemble. "Made in America"?
  • We were going to start making tanker cars. The inside of the tank had to be corrosion proof. They were planning to spray the coating with a 95* flashpoint without any ventilation or confined space retrieval equipment. Hmm.. Atomizing a very flammable spray in a closed container. What could go wrong?
Between Trump (1st time president) putting tariffs on imported steel from China and hurricane Florence the company closed its doors after 5 years.

I hate politics but what happened today was so corrupt on so many levels its silly. How are these same people gonna make a massive stink about Hunter Biden paying off a Truck loan then turn around and let shit like this happen daily? Also, 125% tariff on China now? I dont think the stock market realizes how much Chinese stuff the average American buys, and where it really comes from...

People always like to say derogatory things about successful people, mostly because their own life sucks. I guess we have to ask why you made the above statement. :ROFLMAO:

I know a fella who says Musk is an idiot.

How dumb could the richest person in the world be?
OMG. People need to really stop equating wealth with intelligence. Being born into a rich family and being a sociopath, doesn't mean you're intelligent.

I really am baffled by anyone who can look at Trump and not see the obvious, ridiculous con man and sociopath he is.

Trump has the distinction of being the man who lost more money than anyone else in US history. He is a serial failure at business(he even managed to bankrupt Casinos!), but he lies and engages in self aggrandizement constantly. He was running on fumes when Mark Burnett cast him in the lead role in The Apprentice. And somehow people saw the character he played, a mercurial bozo who obviously doesn't understand business, and thought, "That guy is an incredible businessman!" Why? Because he says so and is on the TV!

The author of his book, "The Art of the Deal" regrets ever having written that book for him. Think about that for a minute. Yeah that's right, Trump didn't write his own book and likely didn't read it either.

It's just heartbreaking seeing so many people buy into these ridiculous myths of Trump and Elon, two of the most horrible people on the planet.

No wonder so many people fall for MLMs and time shares.

We export a lot of Food to China. They just put an 84% Tariff on that.
We can do without a new iPhone or TV but Chinese people cannot avoid the Increased prices on food.

I also suspect that with less Agricultural purchases from US Farmers by China that the Farmers will start dumping that food at lower costs into the USA. So we might actually see prices of produce go down in the short term.
So what happened last time around was that many Chinese companies stopped buying from US farmers and started buying from Brazil and as a result the US government had to bail the farmers out. Those customers that switched to Brazil, never came back.

The stuff the US can grow can be grown in many other places. But most of the food we import, can't. If you like coffee, it's going to be more expensive for the rest of your life, get used to it.

As for making food less expensive here because China isn't buying it now, that's great news. Got any suggestions for all the corn and soybeans I can get for cheap now? Because that's the only thing that is lower now. I listened to the farm report his morning and farmers are screwed and we will be bailing them out yet again because Trump is an idiot(and a criminal) who has managed to convince enough dummies that he knows what he's doing.

Fun fact, according to the US Department of Education, 54% of American adults cannot read or write prose beyond a sixth grade level. We are living Idiocracy.

but Chinese people cannot avoid the Increased prices on food.
No but we can soften the blow.
We grow soy beans too and so does Brazil and a lot of other countries that are not attacking China in a trade war.

Yep. A major issue and Xi knows it. In 2021, Brazil replaced the United States as China’s largest agricultural supplier, providing 20 percent of China’s agricultural imports. It is also one of the main drivers in their Belt and Road initiative.
I think that is one of the reasons why Trump hit every country with Tariffs. He wanted to make a statement and I suspect that he is now going to be setting terms with individual countries on how they can stay tariff free, I suspect Brazil might not be as reliable a seller to China after these talks.
Same situation with energy, but unlike food where they're constrained by geography and climate, energy self-sufficiency is what is driving their moves into solar, wind, and hydro. They're certainly pivoting away from the US as being an energy supplier, and that will hurt our producers by curtailing their markets. This hits home for me as WV owes 2% of the State GDP solely to exports of coal to China. Not sure where else we can pivot to, though personally I'm fine if it all just stays in the ground.

The collapse of China and the global shift in energy to electrification and solar has been apparent for some time now. This just turbo charges everything. I placed all my orders for everything on Monday, so now am just watching for tracking numbers.
Agree, fossil fuel is a dead end.

China financed and subsidized their industrial growth with hopes of getting rich before getting old. It is too late.
The middle income trap.
I've been saying it for years China has not reached economic escape velocity and they risk forever being the worlds work shop based on low cost wages.

I dunno how they get out of this one, but they need to trade no matter and the world needs stuff that aint going to be made in America

If the US went to a full blown war with China there are those in the so called know that state that the US will run out of munitions in a few weeks.

Yeah and if my granny had wheels I'd drive her like a car.

The only way China is getting into a war with the US is if the most warlike nation the world has ever seen(the US) decided to start a war with them.

This is one of the great benefits of global trade, capitalism and interdependency, it reduces conflict and makes war so unpalatable that people don't even have to work that hard to avoid it.

Want to know how uninhabited islands got on the tariff list? It's because Trump said "ALL countries" and his incompetent unprofessional staff of sycophants used an internet top level domain list to find "all the countries" and if you look, you will see that the Heard and McDonald Islands have their own TLD, it's .HM

I know it's hard for some people to fathom, but this administration lacks knowledgeable professionals. Trump values personal loyalty and what he thinks is great television presence above all else. See my other comment about "Ron Varo". These people are fundamentally ignorant and think they know what they're doing. It's the Dunning Kruger effect in over drive.

I'm far from a Trump fan, but the single thing I've been on board with is his tough stance against China. The problem is that the way he goes about implementing changes is completely opaque and slapdash. If China is the problem, why is he penalizing our allies as well? They're all at risk from Chinese industrial policy and rampant overproduction as well, so why not partner up with them to take on China's aggressive industrial subsidies?

The Trans Pacific Partnership was an attempt to draw other Asian countries closer to the U.S. orbit so that they would have an alternative to China. He torpedoed that, now he's going after our North American neighbors, as well as our allies across the lake. All this while genuflecting to the autocratic regime in Moscow. I can't make it make sense. And I'm certain that no one else that took college level economics can either.

No one can make long-term investment decisions with this administration. If you were going to spend money to ramp up U.S. production, this pause is a rug pull. If you were going to continue importing and pass the costs of the tariffs on, you have no idea what you're going to pay or how much of the cost increase you'll need to absorb. This isn't rational policy making...it's something more akin to gambling. Business investment is going to decline substantially in the absence of stable trade policy.

Reminds me of covid times. "When in danger or in doubt, run in circles, scream and shout".

I prefer to watch. No panic buying, no freaking out. No watching the newspeople run out of breath trying to whip up views.
Ok so that’s fine you sit and watch but there is already major fall out because of the way this whole thing has been handled, If he would have gone after one country at a time instead of all at once. He
just pushed all our previous allies together to be against us. Gives them more power as a block of countries, and easier to say FU and look elsewhere for a reliable trade partner. I am seeing construction projects cancelled and layoffs in the near future in my area because of the uncertainty of building material costs.

Am I being cynical, or can anyone else hear this conversation??
Hey Donald this is your rich bff...do your tariff thing and crash the market. When it drops 4000 points, we will buy a bunch of stock. Then you can announce you changed your mind. We will sell when the 4000 points are erased. We can make a ton of money. Thx
ps can't be grifting you $$, but whats your favorite charity???
