Looks like someone on that site don't understand decimal points. It should have been $8.00 not $80.00
Like i said before, you have to pay attention to which "color" button is selected. The first one is automatically selected when you get to the page. Look at it. It is for a charger only, for $7.57. If you want the actual battery, you have to click a different button and the price will change accordingly. This is the standard "click bait" mode of operation on Ali Express, that I hate. You see an ad for a cheap price on an expensive item, click it, and find out it is just an inexpensive accessory that is being offered.

NEVER buy from an ad that has pictures that don't agree with the description, or descriptions that don't agree with the pictures. They could send you absolutely anything. This happens with generators I have looked at. They have pictures of different ones and you can't tell which one is actually going to ship. Probably the crappiest one and it will be different than any of the ones in the pictures.

Considering that the highlighted button is for the display, i would expect just the display. I hate how that is done on ali.
I was 80% sure I was going to get the display but the description is still for a 200 AMP BMS. Given that the entertainment value alone was worth more than the $27 to me I pulled the trigger just to see what I got.

FWIW: I didn't find that listing, rather it was sent to me in marketing email (1st hint) and on sale (2nd hint). AE knew that I had been looking for that BMS just the day before and "Walla" here comes the same BMS on sale.

"fool me twice, shame on me"

That sleazy crap is getting to be very common on eBay too. At least the images and descriptions change on similar pages at Amazon, though it still mixes reviews for several different products. Not that anyone bothers with the reviews, since they are so full of fakes and other nonsense. I know a guy who gets all sorts of overpriced audiophile trinkets for free, in exchange for his honest, glowing reviews. I'd have more respect for him if he just admitted that he enjoys getting the crap for little work.

The overall description hardly ever changes when you click the "color" buttons. There is a smaller description following the word "Color:" that changes for each button. Often the main picture changes too. In the case of the battery ad, they always show the same small battery. This is the clue that you should find a better vendor who makes an effort to show the actual different version that you select with the color button. Otherwise, you can't be sure what you will get. Oh yes, they pound my email with things that I have looked at too. And always at a rediculous price that turns out to be a related do-dad and not the actual item in the picture. It has me automatically thinking "that ain't the real price" as soon as I see it.

I have noticed that on ebay too. I wish they would ban that. Seems like a good use for AI: review ads for clarity and logic before accepting them. I just go to the next listing, but it wastes a lot of time. Amazon search largely a waste of time too, when I search for a specific item and it shows everything but that item.

As far as you can tell.
Certainly. That is where experience comes in. I started at an early age reading everything from the ingredients on the cereal box to the classifieds in the daily newspaper. Sometimes I fail to pay attention to all the little details or specifications and get bit. That acts as a reinforcement mechanism.

The reviews are not completely useless, at least part of the time. Of course many fakes are obvious, but I'm not silly enough to think my detection rate is high enough to be terribly useful. Even if they are all honest, many people are clueless and have trouble with things that are not defective or badly designed.

Anyway, I don't waste much time on reviews found online. I find it far more productive to find comments posted on forums and blogs, which are probably more reliable and informative. That's how I find a lot of interesting things, too, like this forum.

I thought EBay was the worst but it is only the tip of the iceberg. Temu takes the cake though, the post today about that 300AH battery pulled me in, I signed up for an account down loaded the app because the site said I needed the app to use the coupons then the spamming and promises of free crap started and when I got to where I wanted I found the coupon thing was complete BS.

I just ordered this 12V 120AH battery from Ali Express for $89.00 CDN. Shipping was free. I'll check it when it arrives and if it's okay, I'll order some more.

If they are really 12V 120AH batteries with a 100 amp BMS than I'll buy a few and take one and sacrifice one for the team! :) At $89.00 CDN it would be a great learning experience for me, one of the the rookies. Crossing my fingers that the picture is a stock picture and not what they are selling.

So far pretty much everything I have gotten from TEMU has been exactly what was advertised...but the ads require fine reading and the quality of pretty much everything has been on par with aliexpress...caveat emptor.... I wouldn't order anything expensive safety related...but for tools of harbor freight quality they are fine... Just read the description carefully and make sure to select the correct color, model, accessory

The seller assured me it was so I hope he is telling me the truth. I will certainly let everyone know the outcome when it arrives. If it is correct, I'll be ordering a few more myselft.

Even if it's a 120Ah battery, all evidence says it's a 3S Li-ion battery that charges to a maximum of 12.6V at only 3-5A, and you shouldn't use it for anything at all.

The lesson to be learned here is avoid purchases from 5 month old companies on Aliexpress with dubious descriptions. IMHO, the only "safe" options on Aliexpress are when a manufacturer has a storefront there.

The lesson learned is to carefully read what the ad says, and be skeptical of anything either of these websites.

And.... if it seems to good to be true, it is

That is no deal. That is $200.00 CDN and I can get that from Amazon any day of the week.

you need to just learn how to read it, I have boughten close to 200 items from them, which compared to amazon for the identical item generally results in a 70% savings.
And this bring me back to my point of links! Someone has already done that and just need to post a link! (hopefully)
