150A meter not turning on from solar panel

I got one of these 150A meters and tested it with the 12V adapter on the picture just to make sure it was working.
The screen turns on instantly and displays the correct voltage.

Surprisingly, when I try to use it with a 100W solar panel (where I measured about 18V with a multimeter), the meter doesn't turn on.
Same with a Rutland 913 marine wind turbine that also delivered about 18V when I did the test in strong winds.

Does this meter need more amps or something?

Thanks

Is the load side connected to a battery?
It was when I tested with the solar panel and wind turbine, but it's not required for the display to turn on. When I tried with the adapter, the display was on without the load side being connected to the battery.

Found the problem: I had clamped the positive MC4 on the red wire of the meter, which means it was receiving the panel's negative.
Sorry.
Thanks for your help.
By the way, this video allowed me to unplug the MC4
