Here is the deal, I have an autostart kit installed in my mep-802a so my victron can turn on the generator when the state of charge drops too low and this works great. However, my Victron equipment is causing a grounding fault which causes the contactor to open randomly. This is expected since I have a floating ground due to this being in an RV.
I fixed a similar issue when charging from a gfci outlet using an isolation transformer, however, I couldn't find a 5kw isolation transformer so I used a normal 15kw utility transformer and that seems to have fixed the problem.
However, now this created another issue with the inrush current on start of the generator. To fix this, I think I can purchase 2x 25a inrush current limiters and connect them in parallel to handle the 5000 watts. The only problem with this is that the inrush current limiters are delicate bare electrical components. I would like a rugged water resistant component I can bolt inside the transformer that has screw terminals to connect the wires. Any ideas?
