I want to install an EG4 18kpv with batteries and tie my system to the grid. I have a single breaker panel with my main 200amp breaker and all the household loads in one unit, rather than separate main and sub-panels. Do I need to disconnect the grid from the rest of the panel so that my household isn’t just running off the grid rather than the power from the inverter?

I have pictures but the forum for some reason says that the file is too large.

Check the manual for some diagrams. You can add a 50amp breaker to your existing panel and put your 18kpv behind it, but you wont have backup power if the grid goes down. Or you can take the 4/0 cables out of the input of the current panel and route them to the grid in on the 18kpv and then add 4/0 cables from the load output on the 18kpv to the 200a breaker in your existing panel. Either way would ensure your system can pull from grid for anything above the capacity of the 18kpv.
