18kPV CT Clamp Issue

Hey Guys,

My current system configured is as follows:

1) The inverter loads port feeds a sub panel
2) The inverter grid connection comes from my main electrical panel which is fed by a 100amp breaker.

I moved my ct clamps from right at the grid input of the 18kpv over to the main utility incoming supply so I could more accurately measure what my actual grid import and export power is. When I put a load on my main electrical panel, like a ev charger, the 18kpv sees the load, but does not show any input from the grid, instead it shows that the loads output on the 18kpv is consuming the power. This causes the fans to come on, it shows no grid input and the batteries are asked to discharge.

Any ideas? Batteries were discharging 150amps into the inverter and nowhere for it to go, unless the power was exported back to my main panel and consumed by the ev charger?

My expectation is to see batteries discharging to the loads port on the 18kpv and the rest being imported to support loads on the main panel or is the software just not smart enough to figure this out?

Its been a long week and my brain might not be functioning at full capacity....

If you don't want the inverter to support main panel loads you'll need to set it to a "self consumption" mode, so if only supplies the inverter load output

I am currently running in self consumption mode, so this may not be the correct setting. All other modes are disabled

Title needs to be non baiting because power doesn’t go no where unless you had a loud bang and explosion.

Re-read the OP, decided I was probably wrong.

To be honest, it sounds like it's doing exactly what it's supposed to and supplying the grid-tied load from solar/batteries.

It sounds like with this inverter you don't have a choice. Some other inverters give you the choice of whether to support home loads or not
