Following W.P.'s 400W DCC50s for my van
Would I be better off running 2 instead of 4 gage, Or is that wasting money?
I got a roof entry gland But is there one I can buy instead to run multiple cables & wires through ?Resized_20210119_092627 (3).jpeg

Do you mean between the starter battery and the dcc50s?
What is the round trip distance?

How long is the run between the engine battery and the charger? Put the numbers in a voltage drop calculator and size the wire for a <3% drop.

Put the charger as close to the house battery as reasonably possible and use the same gauge wire.

Using this calculator
I plugged in...
55 input amps
40 feet round trip
14 volts
2 awg will give ~2.95 percent voltage drop

Its generally accepted practice to keep the voltage drop under 3%

Yes, I'm guessing 15ft battery to charger, Instructions say 4ga & also figuring battery to frame to charger ground
Just buying till spring thaw thin I'll install (no heated garage)

15' x 2 + 10 for routing around obstacles is 40'
I strongly suggest you don't use the chassis as the return path.
The resistance will likely be high and variable.

Thanks, I'll skip the chassis ground and ck out the voltage drop chart, Thanks All
