Hi:

I'm new to the forum and think it is fantastic! I signed up because it is a great place to learn about battery building. My application is actually a small EV, and I was planning on putting 24 78ah cells in series but in a 4x6 configuration because that is what fits. Someone told me that the cells in the middle would get too hot and be damaged if all the cells are up tight to each other (which is the way I thought the cells should be to avoid cell bloating). I can fabricate some spacers that will allow airflow and be rigid, but I don't have a sense of how much support they would need. The cells are about 7 inches tall x 6 wide, so I thought two rows of support/spacers across both horizontally and vertically per cell. Does anyone have any thoughts about whether that would be sufficient?

Next question is what people make enclosures out of. It needs to be damproof but not necessarily water resistant.

Finally, can someone recommend a BMS for 24 LiFePo4 cells with temperature sensing?

thanks everyone and i look forward to being able to contribute as I learn more.
