24V 200Ah has 4.8kWh of energy storage
24V with 2X 100Ah 12V in series has 2.4kWh of energy storage.

2X the storage. Since money isn't mentioned, moar capacity.

Oops, edit! Should be 24V 100Ah. Same capacity, discharge, etc I believe.

24V. All 8 cells are managed by the same BMS ensuring cell balance.

12V can only balance within themselves. The 12V batteries would need to be top balanced in parallel periodically. From:

If your batteries are in series and not being charged by a multi-bank charger it is recommended that you fully charge the batteries individually once a year. This will balance out the entire battery bank to ensure the batteries will reach its expected life span.

one BMS control one battery pack unit is easy to handle. but if you connect them in series, MAYBE, there will be potential problem. because you connect in series 2 BMS.
more simple with less problem.

Nobody ever expects a battery to fail, but if one does (bad bms), it's possibly a bonus if your battery bank configuration can be reconfigured with less Ah, vs being dead in the water while a battery is being warrantied out.

that is not an option with only two 12v batteries in series.

Put me in the a single 24v battery camp.
