I've been thinking about converting my 240V fridge to 24V.
It's not so much consumption that worries me, more noise. Anyway, I'm almost ready to experiment.
I got me a used fridge (so I can try it without giving up my current fridge yet), I'm looking to buy a Danfoss-Secop compressor.

Thing is, I can't quite find one. What I can find are Sikelan ones, touted as being "direct replacements" for the Danfoss.

Cheap enough, but... does anyone know anything about those? Reviews are not easy to find either.

Perhaps they only sell to Distributers or manufacturers?
Try contacting a supply house site and requesting specific model numbers from the danfoss DC page.

Secop compressors are made in China and available in UK and I expect Europe,

You will need the experience of a refrigeration engineer with specialist equipment and the correct gas to modify the existing fridge.

Thanks. I'll look better on the .de - even though, usually they appear on the .es too... wonder why not... thanks anyway.
The Sikelan ones are about half the price though... I wonder :·/

It's possible. Matching up the tubes may require some creativity. Find a appliance repair place they may be able help you.

Thanks. I got a Sikelan (€140 including "power module") which for testing purposes seems good enough :·)

It is a bit of a slog to find these units. Though a dime a dozen in prebuilt coolers.

The boat folks have them but pricey. Ebay may have but sketchy.

I did get it on eBay. From Germany, in about a week.
They also have Danfoss/Secop ones, but with the "power module" (electrical box) they're more than double the price.
I'm just looking at the tubes, actually. They are in different locations from the one I had, so I'll have to find some copper pipe and solder it.
