24v Pure sine wave inverter_ what would you recommend?

Hello all,

I know there are a lot of options out there and to each there own. I will be working on a 24v system and would like your input.

Since I've joined this form, and what I read and learned, if I only knew then what I know now ; I would have just invested in an all in one Victron.
You life and learn. Going from 12v to 24v, most of the items I have will work with some over gauged wires 🤣

Back to the topic ...

The loads:
Standard fridge 800/900watts
Upright freezer 1200 watts ( maybe less she is old)
Microwave (will not run all the time; same as the coffee pot and some home essentials)

Possible continuous wattage I'm looking at 2400.

Which brand inverter would you recommend based on your experience?

I remembered Will saying in one of his videos to spend the money and get a larger inverter...

I would suggest looking at a 3kW AIO. It does not need to be Victron as there are several inexpensive units out there that are fairly reliable. The mobile style inverters (as pictured in your post) lack many features and capabilities that once you have had a taste of them from a AIO you wonder why you bothered with a bog standard inverter.
 
I agree with Matt. Go ahead and get a all in one. I like the rich solar/grow watt 3000w. Its simple and quiet and easy to set up parameters.. Can get it for about $600 ish.

Matt, I appreciate your input and recommendation. I know there are a lot AIO out there. I guess some more reading to see what I find.
 
Here in Thailand I bought a Chinese brand called SUOER. I basically took a chance on it, not having lots of other local options. It was fairly reasonably priced (about $300 for the first one, then prices dropped to nearly half that when I bought the second one). The first one was a 24-volt, PSW, 2000W unit. The next one was 24V PSW 3000W. Both ran flawlessly, and I used the first one for several years. I never loaded it to max. though, just used it to run a Mac Pro computer setup, my routers, my laptop, and a few other items. I used it for a rice cooker once or twice when power was off in a storm, as well as some lights.

I have a friend who had a negative experience with the SUOER inverters--his mistake being to get a MSW model and trying to run a drill on it. Burned up his inverter. So do check that the model is stated to be pure sine wave.

I never had a problem with it. My only complaint was that it would get a bit loud sometimes when loaded. Thailand is warm, and there was no A/C in the house--and the inverter was in the bedroom near me, so the noise did bother me. But the inverter itself never failed. It caused a USB-connected device (it had a 5-volt USB output port as well) to fail once when the batteries ran low while I was out and I returned to find the inverter cycling between on and off as the battery would appear to have enough power as soon as the inverter would shut down to cause the inverter to restart, only to fail again. Apparently this repetition was the end of the USB-connected device (I don't recall anymore what it was, as this happened a few years ago). But the inverter itself continued to operate just fine once the batteries were fixed.

I'd buy a SUOER again if I were doing 24-volt on a budget. But I've moved up to 48-volt systems now.

One thing to be mindful is that fridge and freezer may cycle on at the same time when your making pop corn or a cup of coffee, if that’s the case, you need some good surge capacity.

I have had no issues with small loads like a refrigerator or Freezer being too much when operating my 24vDC 3kW AIO's. I could not run my MW and the 2000W hot water tank at the same time. Or run the MW and the Induction cooktop or pizza oven. But background loads and 1 heavy load are not really an issue. Depending on your coffee maker it also is unlikely to be any problem.

Victron is great gear but it is not required gear. I have got by just fine without it for almost 4 years.

I completely agree. My initial setup was supposed to be a 12v system....

Yes, I'll have to physically look at the devices with their loads. A lot of home work to do. But I totally agree with you guys. I do have time because I I'm still in the production have in building my battery box and then making all the required connections. Slowely but .... With everyone's guidance from this form, I'm sure I'll be successful.

If/when I can manage the fan noise via a separate, noise-insulated mechanical room, I’d go EG4 6000XP. It’s a great AIO (I have three). If noise will be an issue (small cabin/office) I go Victron (No AIO available unless there’s something I’m not thinking of, btw). The separate, passive SCC makes all the difference when it comes to noise.

BTW, No way should a refrigerator be using 1200 watts! Holy cow - our full size side-by-side averages about 35 watts, and its PEAK demand this month has been 295.

I would be to worried about the noise level. The setup will stay in the garage.
As dor the 1200 watts, it's an upright freezer. I have to look at the actual spec to be more precise with their loads.
 
Wow, that was a good deal.

Just search for 24vDC 3kW solar inverters. Make sure it has the correct AC output voltage for your needs. European/Asian standard of 230vAC only if you live where that is common. For the US pick 120vAC.

Why does the max PV input shows 18 amp?
Or does that mean I can only use panels rated at 18 amps?

Its an inverter/charger. No built in mppt, im not a fan of the AIO's.
 
And I totally respect that. So that unit is an inverter and battery charger?
Yes, your generator can provide the ac input and it will be a charger while it passes through power to the house.
These are very forgiving when it comes to accepting generator input. Some of the cheap AIO's are picky and wont connect.

PV input is at higher voltage than charging output. So 80A at 24vDC nominal is 1920W (W=VA) 1920W at at example of 130vDC PV=14.7A

Max PV of 18A at max Voc of AIO is 150vDC (18A X 150v=2700W). You have to avoid exceeding that voltage and it is always best to have a cold weather margin below that max voltage.
 
I have been using and abusing a Meanwell TS3000 24v pure sinewave inverter for a good couple of years, I also have a Victron 3000VA Multiplus and a Multi rs solar 48/6000.
I would recommend to get a Meanwell, if you cant get a meanwell the go for a Victron.
