I'm building a 12v LiFePO4 battery using 8 EVE 230AH cells, and using the JK BMS 200A, 2A. First, I'm not sure on the "8S" lingo but I am planning to build it like in this video.

If I have 4 sets of two cells in parallel to make a 12v battery, will I still only use 4 (of the 8) balance leads from the BMS, one lead on one of the positive studs for each parallel set? Or is there a way I should be using all 8 balance leads?

So you are doing a 2p4s config. It’ll be a 560ah 12v battery.

As for the 8s JK BMS in 4s mode, check the manual I belive you do tie the last 4 leads together on “cell” 4.

But again check the manual it should have a 4s configuration diagram.

I did this exact same configuration in my first build with a JBD 200a BMS, it worked pretty well, I never tested the full capacity and it did take a while to balance the cells but it met my minimal needs, peak of 1000w for coffee maker. I then converted the battery to an 8s when I went 24v all I had to do was redo the bus bars and snag the same 8s 200a JK BMS.

8s means 8 series which means a 24v battery.

It is possible to do 2p4s.. 2 cells in parallel 4 series it isnt the best idea... you loose visibility of the individual cells. Better to make 2 batteries of 4s with 2 bms, then put them in parallel so you can see the cells.
