lol sigh, gotta love people. See my above post, they had tested one of the older batteries and it was 23.3v and told you as such and when you talked to them the batteries were already on the road to florida with their family and that was why they couldn't test them....they were no longer in NC. Also just got off the phone with them and apparently even though 4 were bought in 2023 and 2 in 2022 they ALL had same manufacturer date of sometime in 2021 (lol not surprised at Signature Solar on that). The family in FL was willing to meet this Scott person partway so as to shorten the drive to the batteries but was unwilling. Nothing wrong with that, well within his rights to do so. So sellers beware when dealing with this person in the future, you might experience the same behavior. And as always careful buying from SS, you might buy batteries in 2024 that were made way back in 2022....
My post above was to just to help other folks know what happened. I'm just telling my side in case it might help others. Again, thank you for helping me as you did, NC_hydro. Were you the only person I was dealing with, given our previous interaction, I would have suspected the deal could have gone down.
The main point here from my viewpoint is that the seller,
in my experience (when I needed to have them shipped), simply wasn't willing to provide evidence of working batteries. Had I known that up front, I'd not have inquired. I've purchased numerous RVs, trailers, etc. online and always try to obtain some info. as to what I'm buying up front (e.g., a professional RV inspection before driving across the country to buy an RV last year). I think this is reasonable with a purchase this size. (I know in selling things, I've seen innumerable videos showing specific things to buyers of items valued much less.
-----------
Regarding the points above.
The voltage was 26.3V (see above; not 23.3V),
which is great, and you did tell me this and everyone.
I'm not contending that. There was no complaint here on my end. My point is that the person selling the battery to me, who I would be paying,
didn't seem aware that the battery had been tested and the box opened and
wasn't willing to show me a video of the battery on and being voltage tested. (I've been scammed before and have learned some hard painful lessons here. Without the info, I'd be paying $2000 to have something shipped to me I've never seen working, from someone I don't know. I was just doing what I consider due diligence here that's all and not trying to say anyone was trying to scam me. It actually makes sense that the seller wouldn't send said video given he also wasn't taking actually the one running the ad thread here. That adds up and makes sense totally and isn't a criticism of what anyone should or shouldn't do regarding how they sell things. They don't need to send a video, but it's just what I would want in making a purchase like this. )
He did not explain to me why he wouldn't test the batteries (e.g., the were on the road), nor did he offer to test them when they arrived in FL. He simply said (as I told you in PM, NC_hydro) that some people preferred to have the batteries completely unopened. That's OK - I didn't want to buy them sight unseen and thought I'd help other folks out so they didn't pursue a purchase where shipping would have been necessary without seeing the batteries at least turned on and reading voltage. [I was getting incongruent two stories here - 1.) That the box has been opened and battery tested and 2.) That the seller doesn't want to open (the already opened?) boxes and test batteries - and figured I'd clear that up with getting a video of the batteries. This seemed reasonable to me.)
As far as driving, there was no issue there. I'm flooded in currently at my house and explained that *I* would not be willing /
able to drive across the state. (I have a blind and deaf dog I need to care for, and would have had to take her with me in my RV, which wouldn't have made it out of the yard. I got stuck just a couple weeks ago with less water on the ground.) So, there
was never an issue regarding them meeting me: We simply negotiated a shipping price.
That wasn't an issue. (I frankly don't recall if they offered to meet me halfway, and I never expected them to drive the whole way to me. Driving to meet for the sale just wasn't an option for me, which, again, is why I asked to have a video of the batteries running / being tested.)
I'm not following your last two sentences entirely, but I've already ordered two new EG4s, so I've got my battery needs met and won't be selling any batteries.
NC_hydro, I'm sorry if you took my previous post personally, as it wasn't meant at all to an attack on you. Had I been able to buy the batteries, I would have likely come back here to mention a successful sale.
Good luck with the sale. Hopefully someone (perhaps nearby in Florida) pounces on this!
