Hi, I'm new here, maybe this has been addressed before, but I kinda doubt it as 32V systems are not common. I have a boat with a 32Vdc, 12Vdc, and 120/240Vac onboard. I've been charging the old (to be replaced) 32V battery bank directly from two 100W 12V solar panels hooked in series wired directly (through a 15A breaker) to the batteries, and been charging my 12V battery bank from another 100W 12V solar panel using a cheap Chinese made charge controller. My question is this, what would be the most efficient way for me to charge my 32V Battery Bank using the 3 100W 12V Solar panels also can I also use those Panels to charge my 12V Batter Bank? My 240/120Vac comes from either a generator or inverter power.

My 32V Battery Bank is used for engine starting mostly, converting to 12V is not really a good potion for me as I have 4 32V starters, 2 32V Alternators and a 32V charger that would have to be changed.

The old, old farm Delco power plants were 32 volts. I wonder if changing it over to 36 volts would be an issue?

What charge voltage is there? What are the battery voltage ranges?
I doubt any of the components would be at issue if you switched to a 36v system…

You could use a solar charger that can be fully programed. The EPever AN series 60amp should work. It will charge 12v/24/36v/48v by design but also you can set the voltage levels right where you want them. You need a PC connected to the charger or the little MT50 user interface to program the voltage that you would need for 32v. I have one at home that I am ready to set up for 36v. I could mock up some settings for 32v if you would share what type of battery you have. Lead acid?

I am at it too with setting up 32 volts. Lead acid.

Guessing just multiply what ever the 36 volt charge settings are by 0.88888888888 as 36 times 0.88888888888 = 31.9999999997 or 32

Best to take good numbers and convert to "volts per cell". A 12v lead acid will have 6 cells, a 36v will have 18 cells, and a 32v will have 16 cells. If you know what Float, Boost/bulk, Low cutoff are "per cell" then you can come up with the voltage settings for any number of cells "battery".

I just took 32 and divided it by 36 to get the 0.88888888888
