Their premise is wrong already.
"$350 per kilowatt-hour." for lithium ion.

I have a year old lithium-ion, made new, for $94 per kilowatt-hour.

If this really is the case in "utility" scale applications at $350. I can see how much overhead there is, and how much money is flowing that is not part of the actual battery.

$1400 for 14.8kWh = $94.70/kWh for me (same as you ;).

A ready-made battery would cost at least double if not triple and if you opt for a finished battery from one of the ‘Big Guys’ like Tesla or BYD, you can easily double again…

So for the population at large (meaning those not crazy enough to build their own LiFePO4 batteries from grey-market cells of unknown origin and quality from China), $350/kWh doesn’t sound unreasonable at all.
