We are going to put a fairly substantial off-grid system at a family ranch in Northern CA towards the middle of 2025. I just saw that Battery Evo is about to release their 62KW King Kong 2 battery and has a Black Friday sale going on for under $10k (Not worried about the weight). I was planning on running a couple Homegrid Stack'd batteries with a couple of Sol-Ark 15's, but they are roughly double the price for half the KW. Before I do anything, I thought I would weigh in with you guys as sometimes if it is too good to be true, it probably is. My questions are:

1) Does Battery Evo play nice with Sol-Ark (I didn't see it in the list of Sol-Ark battery partners)?
2) Is anyone running the King Kong 1 or other Battery Evo batteries with Sol-Ark?
3) What am I missing?

Here is the website with a few cool videos. Thanks

Just some general advice... I don't live in CA, but I know they have a lot of restrictions. Might want to make sure this battery is "approved". Hopefully someone else will come along with more and better advice.

I get suspicious when the battery lacks any claim of UL certifications and no mention of the NEMA rating for indoor or outdoor. It's easy for a company to make a youtube video of the unpacking and installation and use of the product. Is there one?

I did notice they are in Chatsworth, CA which is Los Angeles County. So if its approved there, then everywhere.

El Gato did you ever buy the King Kong two battery? If so, how do you like it and do you have any pics of it? I was interested when I seen the price is below $9000 with the sale they’re having but the pictures are misleading when I called. They said the battery was the size of a pallet and in the pictures it looks a lot smaller but it is a great deal for the amount of kilowatts. I’m just wondering if anyone bought it

was the size of a pallet and in the pictures it looks a lot smaller

The specs say:

"Weight:1230 lbs. (557.9 kg)
Width:43.5 in (1105 mm)
Depth:34.1 in (866 mm)
Height:31.5 in (800 mm)"

The size is OK (seems smaller than a pallet).
My issue is the weight.

For 62kWh I would need to buy 12 rack style batteries (95 lbs each) which would cost close to $12k. Under $9k is a good price.
And yes, 12 * 95lbs is not much lighter than 1230lbs.

I think for many prospective customers the 1230lbs is a deal-breaker.

I did not. I couldn't find anything anywhere that had a single good thing to say about Battery Evo. Also, being a newbie, I didn't want to be the guinea pig. Also, in the back of my mind I was thinking, "If it's too good to be true. . ."

Yeah, I called up the company and told them they really need to ship one of these batteries to Will Prowse because me and a bunch of other people will not buy a product until Will approves it. The guy on the phone said he will relay that to his managers so hopefully it will get done. I think the post above is correct when they’re saying that the weight is just too much for people to handle and they probably are not selling very many units that’s why the price is down to $8500 with a coupon. I would love an additional 62 kW of storage but without Wills approval I will probably just stick with buying an EG4 14 kW wall mount.
