Still pretty new to all this and I'm having a little trouble wrapping my head around all the variables and deciding on best course of action. Hopefully others can benefit from any discussion provoked...

Have a 6000xp and EG4 wallmount battery, powering a woodshop that has very low constant but very high intermittent power needs. I'm trying to figure out the best wiring configuration for (10) 400w Hyperion bifacial panels with the following pertinent specs.

Vmp: 31.01
Voc: 37.07
Temp coefficient of Voc: -.304
lsc: 13.79A
Lowest recorded temp: -30 (F)

Panels are ground mounted in 2 rows of 5, with more or less equal shading on all. I just finished the mount and up til now, I've only ever had 5 panels wired in, in series. Now need to decide how to add the other 5.

Options include:
a) all 10 in series to one MPPT and save the other one for more panels later
b) 5s2p into one MPPT, or
c) 2 separate strings of 5s, one each into each MPPT.

Any advice as to which is optimal for the 6000xp? Thank you kindly in advance.

Based on my calcs, I can get away with all 10 panels in series, with an absolute max open circuit voltage of 438 (which is 91% of the 6000xp capacity of 480). To get that number, it would have to be 30 below, which I've never seen. For that matter, I've never seen 20 below.

One of the things I'm hung up, though, is the 17A max usable input current for the 6000xp (I believe that's per MPPT). With only 5 panels connected, I often see 17+ amps of charging current (as reflected on front of wallmount EG4 battery). Does that mean I'd be wasting half my input current in full sun if I went with 10 in series?

In series, the voltage is added together and the amperage remains the same.
Adding panels in series will not increase the amperage available.
