I was down at the scrap yard and found some lithium batteries. The guy said they couldn't use them and I could take them if I wanted. They are Samsung 30Q cells, 10s3p. "pink gold" 3 of the cells had low voltage about 1.8v, the rest had voltage between 3.8 and 4 volts. They are from a Hoover commercial vacuum cleaner. If you are at a large hotel, casino or convention center and they are using cordless vacs, ask them if they have any batteries they want to get rid of. You could score some "pink gold'P4110098.JPG

30Qs are nice cells, especially for pack building. A couple years ago I bought NOS packs from BH, 6/ 30Qs for $4 . Make sure you store them at 3.83v , Samsungs degrade faster at full charge over time.

My Lowes has a new manager, but I had permission from the old manager to scavenge batteries out of the recycle bin by the front door. I got out of the habit, but should I take it up again, I'll have to get new manager's permission. Depot is usually empty, so I think someone else simply got there before I did.

Thanks, I didn't know that. Still trying to figure out which cells to keep and which to discard.
