Hi Folks, We did a DIY 15kW net metered solar ground mount that's cranking nicely, and next step is heat pumps.

We have ~2000sf cape-style home in Northern Vermont. We currently have an oil boiler with baseboard hydronic heat. So this heat pump system is a secondary system, but we hope to shift most oil heat to solar electric. We also have a woodstove, but we don't figure this in as a heat source because sometimes we get lazy and don't burn it.

Sizing shows 51K BTU heat load and 24K BTU cooling load.

I'm looking at a 36K total heat pump system. 1st floor is 18K ceiling cassette right in the center of the house, 2nd floor is a 9K wall mount for a loft area, and a 9k ceiling cassette for the master bedroom.

HVACDirect recommended a ACiQ unit with extreme winter features: https://hvacdirect.com/36-000-btu-2...ni-split-system-r454b-230v-9-9-18-204185.html

My question is: I've never heard of ACiQ. Are folks happy with these units? Customer service experience? Parts availability? Any pitfalls I should know?

Thanks! Jeff

Never heard of aciq either, though I never looked that hard. Look up their company. If it's a Chinese factory, likely that it's one of a bunch of copycat brands that pop up all of a sudden and start producing things at low cost.
See where the warranty is coming from - your vendor, or if they're expecting the overseas factory to ship extra parts out to you - which, good luck on that.
For a house in Vermont, I'd want to be sure about what I chose.

I have been running one of these for a year in Florida and it is taken everything we have thrown at it so far. HVAC direct customer support is very good if you do happen to need it. They actually have spare parts on hand.
