Its not Science!(TM) if its not dangerous!
Flywheel storage is interesting. Just a bit complicated and would have high standby losses unless you vacuum sealed it with amazing bearings and cutting edge lubricants. Still, I would take 10% daily losses and something the size of a car if it lasted 50 years.
