In our off grid home I am upgrading my old Xantrex SW4024 inverter and was wondering if I could use it to power a 24K BTU mini split with a Victron Transformer, 800 AH of battery, and 2000 watts of PV. The mini split would only be needed during the day for cooling. Looking at a Mr Cool 24K diy unit using 22 to 35 amps.

Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated

So you want to step up 120 to 240 to supply the 24k mini split?

800ah at 24v? LiFePo i take it?

What is your current daily KWhr usage? Vs production?

I’d say it’s def doable as long as you monitor usage and SOC with a shunt so not to draw the battery to zero before turning off the mini split.

The mini split will be the only draw on the above system, it runs at 11 amps but peaks at 19 amps, it will only run during the day and I average 1800 watts for 5.5 hours input during the day at this time of year

19a at 240v is 4560w, your xantrex is a 4000VA inverter, plus the losses of the xfrmr of stepping 120v to 240v, you prob have a usable 3500VA

It can prob run the 24k mini split at a lower setting but not a full tilt, so what’s the point of sizing a system than can only be run on low?

I’d look for a 12k mini split and run it off 120v and avoid the step up transformer losses.

I have 3c mr cools-two 18k and a 12k. The 12 k is 120V the 18k are 240V. That 24 k is to big for your setup in my view-upsize your inverter or downsize your mini split. You are going to want that Mr cool on higher settings in the summer
