I just started construction of my first 8s battery in an ammo can...

It's not a problem...

I can quit any time...

Unfortunately all my 8AWG wire is in the shed and the gate is closed. I'll have to pick it up tomorrow. Next hope is that the 32v my bench power supply can provide is enough to get my MPPT controller to charge the battery.

Wait till you start buying toolboxes, coolers, and other various size containers because “it could make a great build project”
One day, I need to line up all of them and post a picture or run a video showing off everything I bought or collected over the years for projects…

Did I mention I bought a smith electric truck big box truck for funzies?

You mean like making an off grid diesel heater in a rolling toolbox? Battery, SCC and all?

And how IS that Staples truck coming?

Heh… it makes a nice storage building with solar panels leaning against the grill, and an 3kW all in one inverter inside, it charges my tools, and my new 54” ryobi electric mower…
Aside from that, I haven’t touched it.
Maybe this fall I will start on it… the two 180kWh battery packs may actually get processed…

Nah, not addicted at all. Only a few posts and not been here a year yet. I only check in about 3-4 times a day.

Quite mild compared to my real addiction where I've been a member for 11 years and posting an average of 2000 posts a year :)

Now we're all intrigued... dare we ask what that is?

IMHO this is one of the great advantages of knowing how to DIY. The other day I was watching my friend mechanic repair a car. A needed part was on back order. He took the sensor apart, cleaned it and put it back together again. Worked like new.

Prebuilt is cool and all. Nice appearance, and I have almost jumped at the chance more than once. DIY has the advantages of flexibility and ability to repair as needed.

I'm addicted too. And I expect to stay that way forever.
upnorthandpersonal pointed me to this site a few years ago when I posted about something he put on reddit.

Sounds like the two of you are codependent and great at enabling each other. He introduced this forum to you to feel accepted in his addiction. I’d imagine you are not the first he encouraged to join.

But the fact that you both admit to your addiction, that is the first step, there is hope. I pray that someday you will run out of room/space before funds and bankruptcy/divorce in the inevitable crash.
