I came across this very interesting air conditioning concept.

All these things do work, there's even acoustic refrig as used in space, but when it comes to efficiency, ie watts used per temperature change, it's really hard to beat standard compressor style fridges. Somewhere, at some time, chemical reactions have to be pushed in reverse or 'new' raw chemicals obtained and that takes energy.

Tech Ingredients is still one of the best youtube channels I've come across.
