Hey there!

Sorry if i'm bringing up an old topic but I couldn't find anything on the matter.

I've purchased some 1/4" Selterm tinned battery lugs and I'm hoping to drill the hole to fit 5/16". Is this something I can pull off?

5/16's Lugs are current unavailable everywhere I look.

Thanks for your thoughts in advance.

Luke.

I have.
I got best results drilling from the bottom up.
Then making a tiny counter sink.
Then de-burr if required.
Its good to have lots of contact surface area.
Part of that is making sure both surface are flat so they can mate properly.

I did exactly this. Great result. Thanks!

For me, it was more of a problem of how to secure the lugs when drilling. What I did was not safe, did not involve a vice, but did involve a set of leather gloves.

I bought SelTerm Tinned lugs in BULK and have to drill out the holes, it was easier than buying lots of 1/4, 5/16, 3/8 etc...
I use a Drill press, a piece of Hardwood under the lug, once drilled I chamfer the hole to clean it up and perfect everytime.

+1 on the step bit, best tool for the job.
