I know Will identified the lack of low temp sensor but I remember another video where he stated that the engineers are Ampere Time stated that their batteries DONT NEED ONE! Can anyone verify this comment from Will and/or AT?

Thanks

According to the user manual it seems that the Xantrex 30 A SCC has a temperature sensor coupled with a programmable low temperature disconnect and reconnect option.

First, you know what a low temperature sensor does in most BMS? Is disconnects the battery.
That actually wrecks some inverters and MPPTs - most of those state in the manual never to run without battery.

The low temp disconnect protects some batteries - but also might damage other parts.

Having a charger with sensor on the battery - and programming to not - or only slowly charge - is the much better idea.

Correct, the charger should be the part in the system which prevents low charging - and not the battery.

The low temp charging protection is like a breaker - in primary design considerations we should not rely on it.
You put in in a breaker - if the something else fails to do it's job.

The logic an design of the charger(s) should reduce charging when in frozen state, and not the battery just cutting the connection...

modern electrolyte doesn't freeze at 0 Celsius. It's well below that, and it's not like from one second to another it's frozen like water.
It's a gradual process.
