I agree with eggo. If you’re not directly interacting with the grid and selling back, skip ESS. With it turned off, you effectively have an “off grid” inverter where grid power is only passed through the inverter to the loads (or to the battery if you have charging enabled).

If you utilize the generator start/stop feature of the Cerbo, you can remotely change AC input parameters when your away from home.

So for me, in France electricity us super expensive and unreliable. And I am not interested in sending back to the grid, in fact I am not allowed to.

Why ESS should be binned.

I want solar energy when it is available to feed my batteries and power my house. This won't cover all my consumption at the moment, so I need grid to chip in when needed.

So do you think I am ok with my current setup using the VS? I am very comfortable with binning the ESS idea!

I would encourage you to watch Adam's video about the Cerbo generator start/stop. It's fantastic, flexible and robust.

Use the VEconfig advanced tab to restrict charging.

Many thanks guys. I'm subscribed to Adam's channel and there were some great tips - and I also felt the scary 'thud' from the victron relays switching for the first time!

I'll take a look at the cerbo generator start / stop one. I think I initially ignored this video as I mistakenly thought it required addition hardware ie relays.

Quick question, I have a 3 phase system. Would I hardwire the relay to all three or just phase leg 1?

I would imagine it would be the same as my system, were you only hook it up to the primary phase?.
