Battery Case Lid Adhesive

Hi Guys, I recieved my Empty Battery Boxes (ABS) from Alixpss and everything is fitting inside nicely, Lifepo4 GSP 12v 50Ah.
Was wandering which Adhesive is best for this application?, to shut the lid permanently and make it unserviceable.

I noticed Battle born using what looks like Silicone or Epoxy..

Id use araldite rapide because it’s a strong epoxy but can be heated up to open up boxes for servicing by you if needed. Folks rarely realise this is possible so it’s a bit like a sercret key. I use it on kayak and sup paddles. Boiling water will ‘melt’ it enough to open things up

If it truly is ABS you can permanently solvent weld it with acetone.

If you need a less permanent solution a good quality silicone is fine, or the previous suggestion from @ianganderton

No.

Acetone will soften and melt ABS.

ABS cement of course will do the trick just the same. The difference is the cement has other filler stuff in it that adds bulk to the joint. This is useful if you don't have a nice tight fit.

Use a Polyurethane Sealant.
Avoid epoxy or silicone, polyurethane sealant will bond successfully to the ABS, just make sure its cleaned of release agent before applying the sealant.
Polyurethane Sealant will act as a gap filler and offer flexibility in the joint. Clean any excess with paint thinners ( for oil based paints) before the adhesive cures.

My vote goes to RTV silicone or gasket maker. I use Permatex at work, and it's watertight (when used properly), easy to remove (compared to epoxy), cheap(ish), and simple to work with. I use both of the ones below regularly.

Hi, I tried Silicone Hi Temp gasket sealer and did not hold.
Does anyone had experience with 3M 5200 PU?

Told you to avoid silicone.

Use any PU adhesive but make sure any trace of release agent is removed from the case with suitable cleaning agent.
3M 5200 should be OK ( has a slow cure time compared to alternatives), but any of the less expensive construction grades of PU adhesive may work equally as well.

Will try the 3m 5200 and let you know the results.

A quick Update:
I Sealed the first box with 5200 fast cure, applied 15 lb of down pressure for 48 hrs. Tight Fit, lid went 65% down.

Worked great.
Pulled the Battery by the Lid Handle!
