Works in theory! Practice? That's something else
If you haven't heard of Battery Day, then you're probably a normal person. No guarantees though. If you know all about battery day, you should think about getting out more. I'm going to go ?. Battery day is 9/22 and its the hype around Musk's upcoming event where he's said, "Battery Day, people. Wait until Battery Day. It's gonna blow your mind. It blows my mind, and I know it!" Something with the Maxwell technology they bought? Their new solvent? Power and life cycles on par with solid state battery tech? Million mile battery? If you have a million mile battery and a few million cars on the road, then why not apply for a license to be a grid operator like Tesla did? Will every tesla car plugged in be a part of the VPP? Charge up during the day with cheap solar power and sell it at night when it's expensive? That is Tesla owners get paid to have their cars parked and plugged in with a bonus for solar roofs? Or just a $36k discount for people to buy a Tesla if you sign onto using the car as mobile storage? Current Tesla owners could get new more powerful batteries for free by signing up to join the VPP? It's certainly one way to bypass the old fossils running the national power grid. |
