I have been using a 10 amp bench charger to top off my battery packs.
I recently charged a bank that was depleted per the bms settings. When I hooked it up, there was no spark and the charge went as expected.
Later I hoped to top off a bank that is riding at about 80 percent per the bms. When I went to attach the second lead there was a spark. The bms continued to function. The bench charger was turned off but plugged in in order to keep it grounded.
I tried unplugging the charger to deenergize it but still got a spark.
In both cases I also tried a resistor, however no luck.
Any suggestions?
