Many of us came to this forum wide eyed and enthusiastic about the concept of solar. Many watched videos on YouTube and became intrigued about the possibility of converting sunshine to electricity.

For many it has been quite a journey. We gathered our thoughts and shared them with the community. We are fortunate that we have a quality core of members with extensive experience. We would bring our ideas to the group. On some occasions we would receive a thumbs up. On others we had to swallow our pride as we learned the "safe" way of doing things. On those occasions, a rethink was needed as we updated components. Perhaps changes were needed with lug size, wiring considerations, fusing safety or proper BMS settings.

I like to think of the process as a marathon instead of a sprint. Yes there are many prebuilt options on the market now which in the hands of a experienced person can be assembled in a short time and be up and running quickly. For many of us however, the journey is slower. Funding, other time commitments, experience, etc came into play as we worked our project into the web of other life responsibilities.

As in any field, there are different opinions among experts. That is OK. There is a phrase "Iron sharpens Iron". Everyone continues to learn as we move forward.

There have been pioneers in the world. The computer and light bulb grew from the creative spirit. These are good things. There as other issues however where the laws of science must be respected when building something new. There is a value to stringent testing, measuring and reevaluation. Yes these may appear cumbersome at times, but many are time tested recommendations by others who have traveled this road before. The phrase "safety first" comes to my mind.
