Hello!
I just found this forum. Looks like lots of great info here!
I'm currently building a solar trailer. It's essentially an exercise in used, salvaged, and repurposed parts. The whole idea is that it's portable, so I can use it as a renewable energy demonstration at events, or as a battery backup during power outages.
The trailer features 6 used 250w solar panels (1,500W) mounted on swivels so that that lock vertically for towing, or tilt into position for the best solar angle. The battery is a simple 48ishV pack made from 7 Nissan Leaf cell Modules. (14S) I'm repurposing an old 48V UPS as the inverter for the system. That's rated at 2200 watts, so it is powerful enough to charge an electric car on 120V. (Of course, that's slower than on 240!)
I've been sharing the project through build videos on YouTube.
