If my pressure tank fails in the future I think I would like to go to a plastic cistern 120 ga maybe and just pump on demand to the faucets. I would do some extra plumbing to customize the set up also but basically like that....what AC on demand pump is known to be good for this...something quality...and big enough for a small home..1500 sf.

I cannot answer your question as to best, but the Shurflo brand is widely used in the RV industry and can be had for under $100. There are even cheaper knock offs but for under $100 I would be inclined to stick with the name brand. I installed one last year in a tiny home that a friend is outfitting and so far it is doing the job.

I have used both FloJet and Sureflo and they are more or less the same in build quality and functionality. Pretty robust.
