Is both an option? Following this winter, I've decided to add a couple of additional panels mounted vertically - purely to capture as much winter sun as possible.

During the summer I'll have enough energy that I'll end up exporting most of it. However during the depths of winter, those extra couple of hundred watts should make quite a difference.
