Biased towards EG4?

I think company’s should do a limited sale (at a discount) to beta testers if a new product.
There is no way a company can test every option, scenario, etc.

@EG4TechSolutionsTeam

Hi, I decided to let it run today at 12kW Force Discharge until hitting my 30% SOC cutoff. It really is interesting to watch the loads and sources balance throughout the day. The only real constant is the 12kW Export to Grid limit.
From 11:00 to 12:00 it was only serving my 1kW local loads and Export to Grid which is set to 16kW but only achieves 12kW.
It will service 16kW AC if 4kW are local loads. My EV charger pulls 4kW so I let it run around 12:00.
I ran out of battery around 13:35.
May I run any more tests for you?
Are we still blaming clouds or my PV?

Do you know the name of the person you working with at EG4?

I believe this is done in a way. There are a lot of units sold at a discount or given to "influencers" to sell the idea and drive adoption in the early phases. If it was fully disclosed, you would be surprised at how much of that goes on.

I see there was a silent purge of posts that mentioned other brands positively. I suppose you could call it off-topic, but it has the appearance of pushing EG4. Although that is nothing new.

If we can steer members off of being early adopters. Especially those new to solar, it will only benefit them. Having your first big solar experience feel like a beta test is not a way to build lasting support. Nothing against EG4 personally, it's just where a lot of their products are at life-cycle wise.

Silent purge?? How so?

Oh yes, those were off topic. Are you joking me? How is that pushing eg4? They do not control this forum or the content here. We did the same clean up on ecoworthy battery thread and many more.

Nothing new? Why is everyone silent when we delete multiple pages of offtopic discussion that YOU guys report to us, and then you think taking down anything off topic in the EG4 threads is "nothing new" and biased?

I want people to post all products here, there is no preference at all. None of the mods or myself have a care in the world what product is posted here. Furthermore, mods and myself usually don't even moderate posts unless members are reporting them.

I'm getting sick and tired of people thinking this. Apply your logic to ALL threads and moderation here.

People seem to have an unwarranted hate towards the eg4 products. Not sure why. Gate keeping?

There are many people that read these threads and are silent and here for actual information, and they hate it when the thread goes off topic. So they report them. If it's actually breaking the rules, then we will step in. Otherwise, we don't touch a thing.

I even had a poll about this when I first started this forum. The members appreciate when we keep these threads on topic.

Now this thread is going off topic. And I'll have to move it to complaint corner till we get to the bottom of this. Why do you think this @SunDave

I don't get it. They are relabeled luxpower devices. And the rest are manufactured by various companies. The software and marketing material need work, but there are plenty of other options on the market.

Everyone always has a rant about how signature solar should run their business and how they think our forum is biased towards them. Why?

Why did you guys upvote this comment? Can you explain to me what the forum is doing to side with any company ever?

Isn't this the thread where they even posted a YouTube video and jokes and talking about entirely different units? What is the point of that. The majority don't want that. And they report them.

And then when I don't moderate threads, everyone is mad saying that I allow anything to be discussed. Then I get angry messages about that. Why? Whatever I seem to do, it doesn't seem to work.

You can post anything about any company. I do not care. That's the whole point of this forum

This endless bashing on EG4 and thinking like this is giving even more free advertising to EG4. Why don't we start fifty new threads about midnite inverters. Or Schneider. Or whatever, I don't care. My goal is to have every single person and product on this website.

From my perspective I think sending it out to influencers ruins these products at launch. I sit there and mention all the issues, and people cancel orders. Think about the video on flex Boss and me doing the setup. Imagine if they actually had that working properly when they released this thing half a year ago or whenever it was.

I've been telling these companies that they need to get their act together for years now. And time and time again they don't listen. It makes great content on my channel because it's endless drama and problems. But personally I would like these things to actually work how they're supposed to.

Well for me it was because my post got purged and all I thought I did was try to explain the AIO architecture and contrast how EG4 names their vs Sol-Ark the most direct competitor. Maybe it got off topic, not sure now posts are gone, just seemed like any mention of Sol-Ark was a no-no, but I feel like it's good to contrast them since they are so close in design and internal components.

I don't really have a problem with how EG4 names their product, they name it after the MPPT's capability which is the highest number where as Sol-Ark names it after the Inverter capability and nobody seems to name it after the battery DC-DC capability which is usually the lowest number. Definitely a lot of confusion for people on how these devices work compared to old school LF inverters with separate SCC's on the LV bus.

What I really want is accurate spec sheets. What is Flexbosses actual official surge capability? Can it actually export 16kw to the grid. What is Sol-Arks max usable PV vs max safe PV? All these companies could do better in both manuals and data sheets.

Would be nice to get a moderator post to say "post where deleted due to being off topic, watch it" but I get it lots of work moderating, just weird to have post disappear like did I actually post that or did I dream it? Not even in my post history with a deleted tag.

Oh right, the naming thing always turns into everyone complaining about how all of them are mislabeled, then we argue about how grid tie inverters are labeled by PV capacity, then we all argue about hybrids and how they should be named, and quite a few posts didn't mention flex boss at all and then it became joking and posting youtube videos. So I deleted everything that didn't have to do with flex boss.

I think we need to start a thread for that argument. We've done it multiple times now and it always gets reported and people don't like it. But we should start it all over again with its own thread.

I don't think anything would have been reported or I would have a problem with it if it didn't devolve into the YouTube video post of some joke or music or whatever it was.

Comparing products is no issue. But when a thread is completely off the rails, I just go through and delete anything that doesn't have to do with the original post.

Yes agreed on spec sheets.

Yeah comparing any products is great. Sol ark is perfect for comparing to flex boss. I agree

Then Robby will jump in and say that they are ripping everyone off because of it. Then more emotions and devolving into further strange discussions.

I'm not strict at all with moderation either, but members do get mad when these threads become a hang out corner to talk about some random thing or jokes. I don't mind a joke here and there, but when every single post isn't mentioning the original posters topic, it's lost

When I did the clean up, I started from completely off topic posts and deleted until I saw flex boss in the post. That's it. I don't have a special formula or something. If it's offtopic and people complain, I'm going to clean it up. Also, if people didn't report posts, I probably wouldn't care or touch any of these posts. But I get lots of angry members when I don't. You can see my older post history where this was a huge issue when the forum was young.

I upvoted it because I feel discussing various brands brings light to other avenues for potential buyers.
It's happened more than once where threads were purged or flat out deleted.
I understand the thread title and the whole topic at hand but if other equipment isn't having an issue and is working well, shouldn't it be mentioned freely?

What do you think I should do when multiple people complain and report it as going off topic? A good case in point is the eco worthy thread that just happened. I had to delete like five pages from that thing. People were mentioning the vatrer battery, and a few others, and it pissed people off. They wanted technical discussion of eco-worthy only. Including the original poster, Bob. He spent a lot of time in work collecting data for that thread. And having people sidetrack it with other brands really pissed him and other people off.

What do you guys think I should do in that situation?

That's a really tough situation to be in, honestly I'm glad I'm not in it.

Would it be possible to purge everything into a separate thread, even if it's in the chit chat zone?
That way all the info/data shared isn't gone for good.

If the person who started the thread complains about off topic then do something about it. Otherwise I don't think it matters as much. The thread starter is the only person that can really say if a thread is off topic or not seeing as they made the topic.

Oh man that would be tough! Do you want to become a mod and do that? I would love for you and anyone else here to help us out.

Good point. And when bob complained, I thought it was valid. People were mad about that clean up as well, but I think that bobs hard work should not be side tracked with random members mentioning other brands when he said he doesnt want that.

I have been involved in a lot of forums over the years and I definitely prefer heavy moderation even if it ends up hitting me for pushing edge of the topic. Again would be nice to know it a was a moderation event, but either way if in doubt purge, the reason this forums is good is because of your knowledge and judgment.

I have been kicked before in a actual paid forum in a sort of related subject area for being "negative" due to reporting the site was running slow in the site issues sub forum, lol, please don't get that aggressive :).
