My Rv has Big Battery Husky Elite 24v Lithium 234ah. When the battery gets low it automatically turns off (BMS) and then normally I wake the battery up by putting a charger on it.

I see the input voltage on the screen of the battery. Normally I can unplug the charger and see the voltage of the battery. This time the battery voltage screen goes dark not appearing to hold the new charge.

I’m leaving the charger on the battery overnight to see if it will hold a charge long enough to have the RV charge controler take over charging the battery to normal voltage.

Is this a sign the battery is a boat anchor ? I thought BMS protected the battery from failure?

Could be a loss of capacity. Due to the cells being out of balance.
How often do they get a full charge? (Above 3.45v per cell)

I was plugged into power the last two weeks. I’m concerned that it’s possible the setting in the charge controller was not set the lithium 😳. Going to be hell lifting out that 100 pound lithium battery.

I found out yesterday the Big Battery Husky Elite 24v Lithium 234ah LifePO4 is $2,300. US funds I wish to find a better price but where ?

I had two of these at one point and struggled to balance the cells. I ended up getting rid of them and replacing them with batteries that have BMS built in. That is the one complaint I had though, they seemed to be nice batteries and well made however they lack the ability to manage how they are charged because you cannot communicate with them, IMO

What voltage was the charger set at?
A "Lithium" setting doesn't mean anything, unless the voltage is correct.

They have BMS?? I didn't a single port or way of communicating with them, was it bluetooth?

Having communications with batteries until recently wasn't a common feature for any manufacture and really doesn't help much as the cells will be what they are. All this OCD about trying to get the last 1-2% of theoretical capacity for most is a fool's errand

These were the batteries I once owned. Again, I couldn't figure out how to communicate with them but maybe someone here does?

Manufacture informed me to set the charge controller to lead acid because there is no BMS in the battery.
Poof the fault codes disappeared and system is back up and running. Great customer service on a weekend.

In a nut shell the Big Battery Husky Elite 24v Lithium 234ah lifepo4 has no BMS so my charge controller was set incorrectly. Instead of setting it to lithium the battery manufacturer recommended to set charge controller to lead acid. Once set the fault code went away. Strange fix but it’s working.

Manufacturer response was-

“The battery type needs to be lead acid. The lithium setting requires communication that the Husky Elite does not have”.

I cannot help but laugh at this, (Not you, but the situation lol). "Requires communication that the Husky Elite does not have".... That may take some time and several glasses of whiskey to fully comprehend. I'm glad you got it to work however!

Yeah, it’s got a bms. That’s what shut it down and let it wake up.
It’s not a good idea to keep running the battery so low that it goes into protective sleep mode, so please don’t do that again on this or any future battery. What’s below sleep mode? Damaging low cell voltage. All BMS protections conditions should be avoided. Like your car, just because it has a rev limiter doesn’t mean it’s a good idea to hold the throttle to the floor and let the engine keep bouncing off it.

I hope this is only temporary to get the battery to wake up.
Alot of lead acid charge profiles include an equalization charge which will be too high for an LFP

OK, so the setting was wrong. That happens.
Yes, the lithium setting is for closed loop.
the battery absolutely does have a BMS. But it's not capable of closed loop communication.

What charger are you using?

If you only have preset charge profiles to work with (not programable) you probably want the AGM preset instead of Flooded/Open Lead Acid

AGM wont get as high voltage and it wont try to equalize (generally)
