I've been living in South Florida for 24 years now and plan on retiring in 3 years. We rent a condo on the east coast but own a house on the west coast. We have decided to sell the house (under contract now) and get 36 acres in north Georgia.

All my solar projects have been small stuff for camping or hurricane backup but with the new property I'm seeing much bigger things coming down the pipe. We hope to close on the land in July.

The best advice is to draft up a plan with both an itemized list of the loads being run, and the equipment you want to buy to operate those loads. Have it scrutinized first before you pull out the credit card.

You look like you might be in USDA zone 7A. Besides the solar, the first thing I'd install is some fruit trees.

Already has pecan, peach, pear trees, blueberry and blackberry bushes.
