Hello, I am in the position to purchase two second hand Valence U27-12XP Lithium Ion 12V 138Ah batteries for my solar system (400watts of solar panels).
My question is should I purchase a BMS and install it on these batteries? Can I somehow use the external BMS that goes with these (extra$$$)?
I can buy two of these for the price of a Battleborn 100ah battery, would like to ensure I can use them effectively before I purchase.

Thank you!

Has anyone disassembled a unit similar to this and harvested the raw cells to build their own battery? Perhaps that is how I should treat it, as my research suggests the interior BMS is nearly useless to aftermarket users.

Look in the second hand battery section for all the answers. I own for myself. Good luck

If you are going to hook them up in a 12 V configuration get a thunderstruck. Otherwise I can help you out with a valance bms.

I could use your help, I have 12 batteries that I want to use in a 24v configuration.

Here's a few pictures of my Valence battery controller that takes care of all the protection and balancing. Even low temperature protection and precharge circuit. It has a wireless display. On the grey gox it also it has a battery (on) indicator light as well as battery balanced light, state of charge indicator & warning light.
